the press left out The jury made it clear that Mr. LoPresti did not actually use excessive force, and the jury convicted Captain Lopresti of conspiracy charges. While the jury found that Captain LoPresti had conspired with other officers to plan and carry out the assault, it acquitted him of actually having taken part in the beating itself. **** liberal New York rag mag...

That Federal Correctional Officer position implies professionalism, but it's a joke. Applicants are hired without even taking an exam. A resume puts someone in the ranks and they attend a 3 week academy months later thinking they're Federal agents. They're not even allowed to carry guns off-duty.
The 2 jails in NYC, Park Row Manhatten, and Crown Heights Brooklyn, loose about 30% of their personnel yearly due to resignations and termination.
They're just an expensive-sinking ship.

This is true but let me explain something it's what you want out of life,, either a $50k a year and that without overtime I worked in MDC Brooklyn for about 5 years made over $90k a year and moved over to Lt. in Kentucky and I'm loving life.. remember it's what you want out of life a great job,, able to go anywhere within the United States and relocate with any Federal agency. All those staff being walked out is great their are weak.. brings bad business to our job.. You should know that..

Yes sir and I tip my hat to you. Over the years COs at the Metropolitan Center have netted dozens of officers getting arrested. Terminations and attrition account for a desperate manpower crisis.
You should know that too.

Anyone with 2 or 3 years on at MCC is a senior officer, which indicates poor leadership and virtually no training; 1 day a year re-qual.
How many COs really get onto other fed jobs, maybe half-if that many?
We still never figured out how wardens were hired with no correctional backgrounds. You know that was dirty politics. My time there is just a brief paragraph on a reume.

JUST THINK
|
HOW MANY TIMES THEY HARASSED & ASSAULTED INMATES AND GOT AWAY WITH IT. ONLY A VERY SMALL PERCENT OF GUARDS ACTUALLY GET CAUGHT UP IN IT, I MEAN LETS FACE IT THERE BABYSITTING CRIMINALS MANY ARE POOR WITH NO FAMILIES OR ANYONE TO LOOK OUT FOR THEM SO WHEN THEY GET BEAT DOWN BY OFFICERS WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO TELL A SUPERVISOR & THAT USUALLY NEVER GOES FURTHER THEN THE CAGE HES LOCKED UP IN & MAY EVEN BE REASON FOR A WHOLE NEW BEATEN.

I was a juror on this case and it was a very hard position to be in. The evidence given to us showed that it was excessive force but they could not prove who did the excessive force. Roseberry admitted to taking the prisoner "down hard". I personally feel like he probably was the one that punched him in the face and then Roseberry came in and took him down, there was no convincing 11 others of what is just a gut feeling. I also agree that there was rpobably a whole bunch of things going on there that we may never know about. They had stopped videotaping on the SHU in this area in 10/02 until 1/03. Do you honestly think that only a few incidents happened during that time?? I highly doubt that. Just thought I would add some insight to this subject since I was a part of this.

If you don't mind me saying, they are peace officers under State CPL, but their employer prohibits carrying under this statute. NYS says they can, but the Bureau of Prisons maintains the right to restrict this privilege.
They only carry while transporting or escorting prisoners. This occured after many employees, even janitors, considered their employment a gun club.

As per US Public Law #108-277 (HR 218) BOP Staff can carry a concealed firearm because BOP Staff qualified as LEO. Know your law before cutting down fellow officers. Peace out!

You can talk, but not listen. The BOP has the right to prohibit its employees from playing cop and carry guns.
LEO status, after 3 weeks of classroom in Georgia? Who you trying to impress? Square badges get more training than that.

Hey Grannling,
What about the fact that one of the cooperating witnesses was lying about what they had done in the past? One said, yea I did this with him. The other when questioned and said he did not? Why were they credible?

I spent a few years working at MDC Brooklyn...I have worked both east and west control centers...I have seen a lot of things happen. I dont know what the big issue is if an inmate gets out of line then he/she must be dealt with. Im hoping that D. White isn't the same person who was a LT. then Dep. Capt and then Capt. of Otisville...because if it is you dont know **** because half the time you were ASLEEP. Right Player...lol oh yeah and I was at the meeting when the Director of the BOP said they could carry...I guess you were sleep that day too...lol

All the officers in question are good people. Roseberry was always one of the first into a unit or on the scene when a body alarm was hit ....Federal C.O.'s deal with the same type of inmates and some time worse then their local and state counterparts ...yet are only trained for three weeks...The Feds are no longer just housing white collar criminals..They deal with everything from cop killers to terrorists...BOP doesnt respect their people..The are dressed like secuirty guards and made to act like they deal with saints. I want any one of you people who are bad mouthing the BOP to walk into a unit with 124 felons with no protection other then a radio with a dead battery ALONE and lock the door behind you then you judge. Half of you would **** your pants in ten minutes

Unfortunately, many of the B.O.P. staff believe "BET LATE NIGHT" is educational programming. Many are ill-equipped for this job due to lack of education. All you have to do is read their comments to see how clueless and morally bankrupt they are.

US BOP officers handle their own better than any state or local officersin the country. A constant manpower shortage ans growing prisoner population has one CO doing the work of 3 elsewhere.
My problem lies with the administrative staff who believe it's perfectly alright to hire someone off the street, put them to work, and send them to a 3 week school months later. Correctional academies in every other jurisdiction are a minimum of 4 months. BOP will eventually pay more via lawsuits and an extremely high turnover rate in personnel.
Guess I will go back to sleeps now.
