And, who would regulate this chaotic nonsense? Oh that we all were ethically wired and mathematically gifted, but that is sadly not the case. Policing individual home "raffles" (and those of any other personal property) would require an infrastructure the financial support for which would create further loss for all taxpayers in order to benefit those holding the raffles. Take some time, think it through, and don't get yourselves in further financial trouble. OMG. You are the guy who didn't get picked for dodge ball. Please be specific exactly how the infrastucture and financial support would create further loss for all taxpayers. Since you have thought this through.

Hey see if PAYPAL would handle the contest and since they have the money, they could give the money to the person that holds the contest after you present the winner the prize. (For what it may be worth...:) A contest with an entry fee does not legalize this endeavor...Save yourself the hassle,...(Maybe this will help to grasp the issue: Does the phrase "NO PURCHASE NECESSARY" ring a bell? That's because charging folks, either by ticket or entry fee or purchase of items would leave open all the oportunities for graft and corruption noted by previous commentors and more. It would simply be a round-a-bout means to illegal gambling.

There's a couple ways around this.
1. Start your own charity and raffle off the house.
2. Sell something else with each purchase qualifying for an entry into the raffle. Whatever you sell though, has to be fair market value. Meaning you cant sell t-shirts that are worth 20 dollars for 100. You would have to prove the value if you did.
Michigan really needs to change their gambling laws. The banks could make a killing raffling off all these homes.

Here ya go...home raffles! Perfect!! Of course Michigan is going to make it illegal...because it makes sense!!! It could save foreclosure, it could put people in a home for basically nothing, everyone would benefit...so Michigan wants no part of it. Find a way for the state to get paid...give them 10% and see what happens!!! Till then...enjoy foreclosure, unemployment, all this state has to offer...good job Michigan!

1.can even a non-profit raffle off real estate in Michigan ? my guess is no.....
2.if it were made leqal, there would be so many tickets for sale, you'd never be able to sell enough to complete your raffle
3.state lottery and school revenue would drop, thus the state would add more other taxes
4.if the banks could raffle off foreclosed homes, it may help our home values from falling, it may be a good way for them to unload forecloused homes
