Sorry Meerkat Lover but all the male meerkats are fixed so no babies. They are all siblings and their family line is being represented else where in another zoo, so these are just for display :) Thank you Jenn but all is well with them, its the Camera that needs a vet.:)

There was a blackout at the turkey point power plant, maybe that had something to do with the cam being down??? Ron is a great PR guy, but there are so many other people involved as well.

Hi Ron, I'm wondering why the zoo would not want to have more meerkat pups? Is that a rule of some sort? I always thought zoo's swaped animals to aviod inbreeding.

Just checked into it and a part needed to be ordered and it will hopefully be up and running today 3-4-08 at least thats what they told me.

Hi Jeanne, Ron is out of town, the animals are only bred if there is a need or a place for the offspring. So this group is just for display, this bloodline is being bred at another zoo. So to avoid overrepresentation of a bloodline, we look at the captive population and make sure we have the right balance to ensure long-term diversity.
