It's a shame there isn't as enthusiastic an effort to create housing for area disabled with intellectual disabilities who languish on long waiting lists. They have not caused their situation the way many of the homeless have done by alcoholism and drug use. Because many of them cannot be coaxed to vote for someone, our society's innocent and most needy must wait.

Where are the "faith based" organizations to help them?

What the heck with that building? It looks like someone should paint "Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco" on the side in large print!

I understand what your point is, but question how voting will help them? There are many entitlements and charities already pitching in to help them.
BTW-alcoholism and drug addiction are also mental disabilities.

alcoholism and drug addiction are not disabilities. Alot of time they are the result of diasbilities. Gee, I hope you didnt give the town clowncil any ideas. Everybody knows what happens when you leave them to think for themselves.

They are mental disabilities when a person genetically is inclined to pick up the habit. Perhaps it is a matter of opinion; not clownish and narrow mind thoughts such as thou.

Where is the handout and help for the able bodied person who is down on their luck because of a loss of job or illness? Are facing foreclosure, not able to come up with that security payment on rent, utilities, etc. I've never seen any organization say here come and get it. VEC is worthless. If you are a deadbeat, or an illegal immigrant, everyone is all to happy to help.

Is this going to keep them from panhandling and hassling people on the Downtown Mall now that they have homes?

independence implies a degree of responsibility and the homeless bumbs don't exactly take to responsibility....Another waste of time by a bunch of do-gooders....a six pack and a place to crap and puke would be of more benefit to the homeless........
