I didn't know about this, but did CVEC go up in price??? I live in a 850sq feet house in this past mouth my bill went from 170 to 270 I have done nothing different

Unfortunately, you are correct, they did go up for the cost of their electricity because the whole sale agreement with its distributor expired or is about to expire. CVEC should have included information on your bill or in their newsletter mailed separately. The rate increase, we believe is 20%, has been approved by the State Corporation Commission. This is quite a jump and a shock to us as well when you see it on your bill. One of the recent bills was prorated with the old charge versus the new charge. You will see the full increase in your next bill.
