That's nice and all, but if as much money was thrown at cancer, a much larger killer than AIDS, society might be better off. Sadly for cancer patients, AIDS isn't "cool".

Please see the link above, or just look into this further, Rusty. Cancer research gets more funding. And what kind of person whines about a fundraiser for those living with or affected by a disease? Be grateful for all funds going to any cure.

I make my point about this in the same respects to the Morgan Harrington case that is popular at the moment. If it had been Monique from Orangedale Ave, not a peep would be heard. The link above is a .gov report, so that's a grain of salt for me.

If you want to use a real person as an analogy...
.
Samantha Clarke from Orange Co. is a real person and same age that is still missing and does not get the coverage that Morgan Harrington got.

Rusty, you are absolutely correct. At the present time approx.$2440 per person infected by HIV is spent on research. For every cancer patient, that amount is approx.$465 per person diagnosed with cancer.
All that money for a PREVENTABLE disease. Heck for $2440 per aids patient, we as a society would be better off providing them with free condoms. It would be a lot cheaper.
