Thank goodness, we need someone to stand up to the boys with guns and badges. Its a terrible shame that reason escapes the minds of those elected to represent the citizenry.

I used to have respect for John Whitehead for his defense of Constitutional rights, but I think we're witnessing a full-blown case of narcissism. His hunger for the spotlight is so voracious tha no he's stepping outside his defined mission to hang his name on whatever will get his name in the press.

And his repeated assertions that he is a "non-political" being is a bunch of bunk. He's Progressive to the core.

Anyone who wants to learn what a "Progressive" really is needs to watch the video "AGENDA: Grinding America Down" on Vimeo.com .

Communism is the last stage of so called "progressive liberalism".

The film is an hour and a half and is time well spent---especially if you live in Charlottesville or the surrounding area.

The only "school" in Keene is the home school for growers.

Here's a review of the film...
.
In this film, the left side, composed of Marxists, communists, and socialists, are evil people who hate God and the family structure, revel in sin and debachery, and lazily take money from the government, money from hardworking people's tax dollars. It goes on to say this dependence on the government will lead us all to a fascist state. As they are saying this, they show images of Hitler and concentration camps. People who accept money from the government are looking for a futile means to an end in this economy, but it may be the only thing they can think of at the present moment to help their families make ends meet. Although I do agree that if people allow themselves to become dependent on the government it could lead us all down a dark path, I do not think this movie offers a fair, objective view of the situation.
.

I think I already saw that on Glenn Beck once

Well only 2 miles to the nearest school. I thought they were talking next door. I am sure that the people in charge have looked at what kind of weapons will be allowed to be shot there and the maximum effective range as well as maximum range of any bullet being shot. Think I would prefer that the people that may sometime need to discharge a firearm in a crowd to protect innocent bystandards that they be able to hit what they are aiming at, and that takes practice. Also have to wonder about the folks in the county that own a few acres of land that hunt. I am pretty sure they go out and shoot more often than just when they hunt, and in these cases there are houses maybe schools closer than 2 miles. I haven't heard of anyone being struck by a stray bullet. This may be because of gun control though. They are able to hit what they are aiming at. Back to the range I would think that the people going out to use the range have some familuarity with what they are doing and are able to hit what they are aiming at. I mean the people in charge have considered the publics safety and have consulted with experts on this. I am sure it wasn't just hey lets put it over there. But then again they were elected by lets see the public so questioning them is a good thing but there has to some trust that they are doing what they are for the publics best interest in the long run, and this is something that is needed and unfortunately has to go in someones back yard. But 2 miles really....

Area residents need to decide whether or not the want their law enforcement officers to be propertly trained and ready at a moments notice to respond to a critical incident.

Parents should be more concerned about their kid's school bus being car-jacked or some sick mother-@#@*er shooting up the next elementary school. Most of us just take it for granted that 'Johnny will return home 'safely' after the school bus pulls away.

Local law enforcement need to be best training and equipment to protect the community and themselves. They put themselves in harm's way each and everyday. For that I am greatfully thankful! That is something the John Whitehead knows little about!

I bet those in Keene will gladly keep their property values and sling AR-15s over "propertly" trained enforcement officers that may or may not show up when needed.

Why not at general shale in Barboursville? Here's an easy solution, offer a tax break to an existing range.

There is no Constitutional issue involved here. The Rutherford Institute knows absolutely nothing about gun safety or noise. R>I> seems to be getting a bit wacky in its old age.
