Very very bad idea, if we haven't learned anything from Zimmerman we've learned any idiot can own and carry a gun. Every college town would turn into a Dodge City.

Yeah! The memories! Especially the memory of not one armed person in sight to put an end to this massacre! And the shooter knew it.

You make no sense. They lobby for all citizens that are legally able to carry firearms. Ethnicity or gender is not a factor in their activities. Contrary to your ludicrous implication, they don't provide funds for arming or training white people.

You sir, need to read more books than your King James version.

I see "thinking free' is not thinking honestly when it comes to the example of Zimmerman...the Hispanic White guy who shot a wanna-be thug while being attacked. The NBC "mindset", hiding evidence and photos to drum up an incorrect vision of what went down- besides the tea & Skittles. Poor li'll Travon, gangsta punk picked on the wrong one that rainy night. Try to be honest in how you present "your case"
The statistics do not bear out the Dodge City claim either. Just because one has no faith in their own self restraint doesn't (necessarily) mean that there aren't adults with the ability to control themselves as responsible, with conceal carry permitted sidearms.
As for that horrible day in April when Norris Hall was left with helpless victims to die as one angry, non licensed and underage (not conceal carry eligible) whack picked off students and instructors alike knowing that campus was a "gun free", feel safe place wherein there could be no resistance...well, sadly, it was fish in a barrel.
But the VT mouthpieces still insist that being a "gun free zone" creates a feeling of being safe. Feeling safe didn't actually help the targets.
I have carried for three decades and haven't shot anyone in anger. If having a sidearm is so scary, just use your cell phone and wait minutes when seconds count. But don't demand that all should be victims because you're afraid.

College kids adults, paleeeeese, go ahead give them guns on campus, see what happens. Using past history as a scare tactic to support your own warped sense of right and wrong is a cheap shot at best.

If it is permissible in some person's distorted thinking that a Repuglican formed "commission" knows better than rational people where gun toting should be allowed, one would think that they would be smart enough to put their intellect to work electing a President, not supporting a loser. When will the GOP smarten up and stop being shills for the NRA?

The party that can't shoot straight should only be allowed to carry, when they act like adults and respect other peoples wishes. Attaining a certain age only indicates an individual has been on this earth for an identifiable period of time, not that their decisions are thoughtful and mature.

And to think the party leaders in the past election wanted to do away with the Department of Education.

It's funny. Conservative GOP-types usually favor localized decision-making. Unless, of course, they disagree with the decision.

Some of you people are complete morons. A law like this would not arm every student. Only those of legal age, 21, who was legally able to own and carry would be allowed to carry a firearm. If you think criminals are not carrying firearms on our university grounds now, your head is in the sand. And Marine, if you think the board of visitors has a magic fountain of knowledge over the representatives of the people, you're wrong too. Thank you for your service but you're wrong.

We should allow swords on campus. That way we can fight the evil warlocks and save the princess.

Ah, what a question for the self flagellating social apologists.

Should we, or should we not, keep college students as vulnerable as fish in a barrel?

Part of a college education is learning how to "bob and weave" in life isn't it?

These are 'citizens' that Virginia Citizens Defense League should arm first.
Does Virginia Citizens Defense League have dedicated funds to help arm **** people, people of color, women, trans women/trans women of color, immigrants and Muslims? and programs to help them become better with their weapons so that they can maim in exactly the right place(s)... of course, in the course of defending themselves ... if the data are correct, primarly against WHITE MEN?

Most mass murderers were not criminals until they mass murdered. Its not the criminals we need to worry about, but the crazies. Lets make sure they are armed?

We've had concealed carry in VA for a number of years without much trouble. I don't have the stats in front of me, but the number of licenses has to be in the hundreds of thousands at least. Quite a few of them live here in Albemarle County and carry frequently without incident.

Still, the law gives business owners the right to restrict those carrying on their property. Even the state restricts carry in certain locations.

In my mind, the board of vistors should be allowed to set the policy on firearms on campus. No different than they would set an alcohol policy.

You have to love when liberals argue that laws banning guns actually keep them out of the hands of those who would break the law with them.

But seriously, state law does specifically prohibit firearms on the campus of VCU, and I don't see Creigh Deeds jumping at the chance to change that law even though he feels the universities know better.

Students with concealed permits should have the right to carry on campus. It would make the environment safer for everyone.

Why should YOU be allowed to ban any honest citizen from lawfulling doing anything they are otherwise allowed to do under State and Federal Law just because they are at UVa?

Why not ban the sale/use of Booze? Make women wear burkas?
