I forgot to mention the "It's all whities fault" crowd. Had I know he was a man of color, I surely would have thrown that in.

It has nothing to do with the color of his skin. He could have been black or white and I would still feel the same way. The fact that ACPD is has taken such action as to have an arrest and press conference for $380 that was paid back is absurd. Lt. Allen has respectively served and protected the people (White and black) of this community for 27 years without any issues and the ACPD treated him as a common criminal. This offence should at the least be a slap on the hand and at the worst be a write up in his file. I donít feel the ACPD showed Integrity but instead showed how they will through anyone under the bus, even one of their own for $380.

$380 lol !!..are you kidding me?
27 years with the force, suspended (may be fired) and faces felony -
Thugs on the street that don't contribute an iota to society get off easier with nothing to lose. Ernie the scapegoat.
If found guilty, give him a couple of weeks of unpaid time off to think about his actions.

Unlike some I commend Colonel Sellers for taking the action he did. The police department is not above the law. It is so sad that a good officer did something stupid for the kind of money. I look at it that this shows that there are no more cover ups like in the old Miller administration.
I think the right action was taken. And it has NOTHING to do with him being black!!

Agreed. A cop's worst enemy is another cop.

I doubt if there was any criminal intent here. I feel certain he was going to replace the money when payday rolled around.

But, think real hard here... when's the last time you saw a black male in uniform and driving a marked Albemarle police car?

That's the guy the Albemarle police arrested for impersonating a Greene County cop. They really ended up with egg on face back then. Gasbag was a Greene County cop.The rookie (Pishulka??) should have been fired back then. But I guess he didn't misappropriate $380 though.

Sure this is the first and only time.... yeah right. Another example of the abuse of power, and lack of quality leadership in this organization. Right along with sex on the job, writing people tickets who are in a wheel chair while crossing in a crosswalk struck by a officer in a police car who is texting while driving. Begs the question... whats next?

I am not buying this story. Ernie is such a fine man and has helpled so many in the community. I am sure that he will have an explanation.

was it flat out stealing or did he just use the funds inappropriately like maybe using the petty cash to pay for dinner for the guys when they were really not on duty. Just curious cause I can't see him risking his career for $380. Doesn't make sense

It sounds a lot worse that it really is, he should have been at least allowed to "retire". Making it criminal is another act of grand standing by Sellers and his band of sychopants. I doubt their was any criminal intent, just poor judgment. I doubt any of the good ole boys there would have suffered the same outcome. Remember the sex on duty scandal from a few years back? the only one who lost his job over that one, was some rookie cop. That was a worse case of stealing in my opinion.

That amount is probably not the real total....usually that is the missing amount that can be directly linked to the thief.

None of those officers were black.
