Does this statement from the article scare anyone:

"Open-government groups opposed the expanded bill, saying it would impede the public's ability to monitor government regulation of a constitutionally protected activity."

Since when does "the public" or the government have the right to monitor the "constitutionally protected activity" of others? Do these "Open-Government" groups believe that the public's religious affiliations, free speech, right of associtation, or other "constitutionally protected" activities should be regulated and monitored?

George Orwell would be so proud of these idiots.

Wake Up, my fellow Americans. Our rights are being eroded by those we have elected to represent us; just a little at a time, and all too frequently with the pretexts of "Common Sense Legislation" or "Pay their 'fair' share". These are YOUR rights; don’t let them be taken from you. Once lost, they are lost forever. We fought a revolution back in 1776 for the very reason that the government was mistreating its people. We replaced that failed and corrupt government with a one that does not have “people”– instead, our government is BY the people, OF the people, and FOR the people (sound familiar). Do you understand the difference? Many of our elected representatives, along with the liberal “mainstream” media seem to have forgotten this. Many of our senior elected officials don’t even remember elementary-school civics. The leader in the Senate last year stated that our government has three parts: the House, the Senate, and the President. Ask any 5th-grader and you are more likely to get the correct answer.

Unless we demand better from our elected representatives, and hold them accountable for their actions and inactions, we’ll just get pulled increasing towards socialism – just look at Cuba and North Korea to see how well that is working.
