I fully agree with you. The problem with burglars is they never show up when you are home. And sadly, I highly doubt you carry your AK to work with you. So if you ever have a break in, they will probably take your AK as well, unless you have a safe that weighs at least 400lbs. If you have a safe that weighs less they will simply take that too. The only time your weapons will provide protection is in a home invasion.

Hopefully this trash will go into a home when someone is there and get lit up. But until then we will no doubt continue to hear of these incidents.

Like guns are cure bad behavior. Please, hasn't happened yet and never will, nature of the beast. One thing for sure is, most often in cases like this is its most often someone you know or have met who commits these crimes.

All of this macho "shoot 'em, let God sort 'em out!" talk is cool. But you can't shoot somebody just because you catch them in your house stealing your Nintendo games or Matchbox collection in Virginia. You're going to spend a very long time in prison if you do. When the commonwealth finds an entrance wound in the back and exit wound in the chest, you're in a deep pile of stuff.

Would you like to place a bet on that? My suggestion in such an incident: Shoot to kill, then call your lawyer, then call law enforcement. SAY NOTHING to law enforcement when they arrive, other than, "Here is my attorney's name and phone number, he has advised me not to answer any questions or to provide any information at this time." Good people get in trouble when they want to tell their story because they somehow think that law enforcement is there to help them. WRONG. Law enforcement is there to enforce the law, and will hang anyone they can on anything they can. Besides, I'm sure they saw that kitchen knife laying next to the dead guy.

The key is to bolt the safe to the floor from the inside. Most quality safes will have pre-drilled holes for this purpose.
