ATV's are very dangerous. Speed being a factor & there's not enough protection on these types of vehicles.

My heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of this young boy. Nothing worse than the death of your child.

I thought it was a golf cart accident?

Allowing a 10 yr old on an ATV is irresponsible, same for motorcycles, ski mobile, ski do, golf cart, etc.

We will have to wait for a more detailed explanation of the accidental death of this child, but every 4 wheeler I have ever owned had a notice "No riders under the age of 16" permanently affixed to the fender. There have been more than a few local children injured, or killed on 4 wheelers. In just about every case there was some safety measure not taken which could have prevented the injury or death. I do feel for the family for the loss of this child. I hope others will learn a lesson from it, and operate these machines with the respect they deserve, and in a way that they were intended to be used.

With all due respect to the "safety experts" in this room, shut the hell up!

This family has lost their ten year old boy. This is a very inappropriate time to cast blame.

It was a GOLF CART, not an all-terrain vehicle. An E-Z-Go golf cart is nothing like a four-wheeler.

CRIMORA, Va.(AP)-- Augusta County authorities say a 10-year-old boy has died after the golf cart he was driving near his home overturned.

Augusta County sheriff's Capt. Glen Hanger tells the News Leader ( http://bit.ly/N3FWFs ) the boy was alone on the cart when the crash happened on steep terrain Sunday in Crimora.

The boy's father found him and called police.

Hanger says the boy's identity hasn't been released.

A golf cart has 4 wheels as well. Still inappropriate for a 10-yr old to be driving alone or unsupervised.

Actually they are both narrow, have a short wheel base, and a high center of gravity. Do NOT attempt to drive across a steep enbankment or you're nearly guaranteed to roll either a gold cart or an ATV.

Condolences to the family.

5.1.1 Only persons who are trained in the proper
operation of the carrier shall be authorized to operate the
carrier. Operators shall be qualified as to visual, auditory,
physical, and mental ability to safely operate the equipment
according to Section 5 and all other applicable
parts of this Standard.

Here is all it say in owners manual about who can drive the go kart, look up the facts b4 you all comment on this tragic accident, the family is hurt enough without all you making stupid comments, they do make kids atvs and equipment, yes the big atvs say 16 and older but golf carts and kids atvs dont. show some dang respect.

These Topix forums are full of assorted comments which are inappropriate to at least someone - you might as well get used to it; or stay off.

All these ATVs need roll bars and seat harness/belts. Also wear a helmet.
