Szakos is a shoe-in so do not let her fool you. Virginia is a liberal/blue state and Charlottesville is a far-left kind of town.

She should be denied re-election alone for the way she enabled Occupy Charlottesville. How Szakos could stand in solidarity with the occupiers as they cursed out our police officers that night is appalling.

This hypocrisy from the woman who has the nerve to call for civil discourse. By her definition, civil discourse is for respectful conservatives to remain silent while obscenities fly in chambers on live TV without a peep of reprimand.

Of course, what should we have expected from her after she suggested that the city (i.e., taxpayers) might pony up the money to pay for their port-a-potties in Lee Park?

And if this isn't enough for you, remember her recent call to jack up the city meals tax yet again? How about tearing down the historical statues in our local parks? Or her support for "Human Rights Commission" with the ability to threaten and shake down alleged abusers for money?

City Council is at its lowest standing in a LONG time. Not a meeting goes by when outrage isn't levied at the Council from all walks of Charlottesville life. You get the government you elect - and I hope Charlottesville will go in a new direction with new councilors.

I will not be voting for Szakos.

"Szakos says her top three priorities include ensuring everyone has a voice in city government..."
So I think she should step aside and let an African-American, Latino, or other minority have a chance. Not much variety in the demographics of the City Council. Perhaps the Human Rights Commission will take on the lack of diversity on City Council as their first project?

Bring back the founding fathers for just one day and the entire council would be tied to the whipping post.

Except for Huja---they would need more than a day to figure him out.

It takes a tough woman to lead a village where over half of the adults neither work nor pay federal income taxes.

I agree. An all out attempt should be made to deny this liberal from being re-elected. Her past record of participation in the Occupy Charlottesville and her attempt to move the Lewis and Clark statutes should be a wake up call to voters. No Szakos!

You are absolutely correct. Over half of her constituents neither work nor pay federal income taxes. Those of us who work and pay taxes should ensure that this very dangerous person does not get re-elected. A "STOP SZAKOS" campaign should be mounted against her immediately!

Sorry you didn't catch the sarcasm in my post. I was alluding to the hypocrisy of the city council, and Szakos in particular.

I did detect the sarcasm but had to ensure that it is so easy to throw a race card at everything that groups do not agree with or do not support. Mea culpa.
