I love it how you blast a salacious headline when the police are likely at fault but run something ambigious like "Crash Involving Charlottesville Police Cruiser on Elliot Avenue" when a drunk runs into a cop.

Seeing how this is Charlottesville, somehow the cop or the PD will get blamed in the end.

Well, maybe it was the cop's fault. We only need to go back to February 2012 in Culpeper to establish the credibility of "initial reports" provided by police regarding incidents involving their own.

On another note, I talk to a lot of people and I do not think I have ever heard someone call a cop car a "cruiser." Perhaps this is the new, gay slant that NBC is taking nationwide; they are attempting to insert gay terms into every story, right?

Finally, NBC 29--those supposed communicators--could have a meeting conducted by Mr. Foky, News Director, where all reporters and writers could vote on how to correctly spell the name of the street on which the wreck occurred.

I witnessed the crash. The "alleged" drunk driver ran a red light and hit the officer's car.

Perhaps you should hang with a more intelligent crowd - police cruiser is an accepted term for the vehicle.

Of all people, the local police should know to look left and right before going through an intersection with a traffic light. Just because they may have a green light does not mean other traffic is going to stop. Even a rookie should know this after working his second or third red light runner wreck.

The discription of a cop car as a cruiser has been used for decades all across the country, my how some peoples worlds are so small. Aside from that, someone just learned a big lesson, lucky no one got hurt badly.

It's not written in law that one should have to look left or right when approaching an intersection where you have a green light. It's impractical in many circumstances, especially where there's structures on every street corner obstructing your view of the intersecting street. So, by your backwards logic, are you supposed to slow or come to a stop at green lights? Here's a thought-provoking solution: How about motorists just obey the traffic laws AND refrain from getting behind the wheel when high or drunk.

He could have looked left and right and proceed to enter slowly when he was struck by other motorist hence why he was struck at the passenger door and not the front. Also, the intersection might have been cleared and she sped through it.

Obviously you are bitter when it comes to law enforcement. How about if I hit your car and I was at fault??? Guess it would be your fault. This is the pathetic logic you present. How about you follow the laws so you are not as bitter.

OK people, all of you, feel free to not look since you are not required to. You will end up just like this cop did. Or you will end up dead like the girl on Route 29 north did when a mail truck ran a red light a few years ago and struck her broadside. If that poor little 16 year old girl had simply looked to her left before entering Rt 29 North, she would most likely have seen the tractor triler truck was making no effort to stop. It's sad that just looking left could have saved her young life.

I also witnessed the crash. The light was green , the cop was in the middle of the road and the car crashed into it. The police car was at fault, but because of possible evidence linking the driver to alcohol, the policeman will not be considered at blame for this accident.
