Traffic along Highway 1 between Pebble Beach and San Luis Obispo may be subject to delays on Thursday because of the Amgen Bicycle Tour of California.

Ah yes, the Amgen tour. Got to love the fact that the Gov. just cut 2 billion from the state budget, mainly in social service programs that help lower income people and yesterday (2/19) Cal Trans had a huge crew out on Highway One in the Big Sur area putting fresh dirt on the shoulders for the race tomorrow. So glad to see my tax dollars wisely used. So happy that this race highlights riding ones bike along Highway One, as it is the perfect place for people to come ride, what with it's wide paved shoulders and minimal traffic.

Here in San Luis Obispo, downtown is beginning to clog up along the barriered streets where today's leg of the race will conclude. Some (cyclists) are besides themselves, many business owners aren't too happy about it, since access to their shops is limited.
