Folks, we need to remember that the people of OHS who are leading this charge, DON'T EVEN LIVE IN OROVILLE! They are seeking Oroville residents to pay for what the school district can't even maintain as is.

Oroville, don't fall for it! If the coaches want a better field, require them to clean up what they have, and learn to maintain that first!!!!

This makes no sense. You don't want a new stadium because the people who want a better stadium live in Chico?

God forbid someone from out of town wants a better stadium for the kids in Oroville to participate in athletics!

Why don't you just spend $50,000 and plant some grass and update the existing features? School enrollment is going down and we can get by with what we have until we really need a $20 MILLION DOLLAR HIGH SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL STADIUM. WHAT ARE YOU, F ING IDIOTS?

No...I don't want to PAY for something that people from another town think we need!

Rather than tear Harrison up and replace it, why don't we staff the School District better, or, better yet, SUPERVISE those charged with taking care of it, clean it up and take pride in what we have! How, when the district, in less than 2 years, will likely need the state to help it budget it's money, can they back more money for SPORTS?!

Besides the immaturity of your posting, and the apparent lack of understanding in regards to public finance. I am assuming that when you bought, or when you buy a house, you will get a mortgage. Its the same thing. All borrowed money is paid back with interest. Its basic finance 101. If government had to save money to pay for capital improvements, it would take years, if not decades to save the money up. Also, money today and spend today, via public bond, is better because it factors out inflation. So, you really do not know what you are talking about.

The beauty about public finance is that a bond only needs two thirds of the vote, so it really doesn't matter if you are against it.

A GREAT idea, I can't wait to see the new facility and most importantly see the kids participate with pride, positive energy and all the support we the Public can give them. And for the negative folks I also look forward to your siblings enjoying football, track and field events and spectacular graduation ceremonies at the new stadium!

It's too bad, however, those same kids, won't have the tools to help their education...but they sure will be able to play football. Our priorities are all screwed up here folks! I know this is small town USA, but, does it have to be dumb town USA too?

The school district passed a $40 million dollar bond a couple of years ago to improve the "academic" buildings of the high schools. Now that a gym, library, classrooms, industrial arts building, and more have been built, the focus is to improve the facilities that are in dire need to repair. Extracurricular activities are also important to school because it promotes social interaction, health related activities, keeps the youth from doing drugs, staying off of the streets, and much more.

Dumb people are the ones that speak on subjects that they know little to nothing about and pretend to be an expert, or think that the public values their opinion.

You have no clue what you are talking about. You have no facts or data and you are spreading false information. What about field maintenance at the high schools why don't they clean up the fields, it is their job. This stadium would benefit both high schools since there current athletic facilities are in poor condition. Here is a chance to better the community and people like you will prevent this from happening; so congratulations for ruining a good thing for the city of Oroville.

"we can get by with what we have"? 1) You are probably old as hell and you are speaking on behalf of something you have no personal interest in whatsoever except that it's your taxes and 2) why not have a good athletic facility for once in Oroville's history that would benefit the current high schoolers and future high schoolers in means of a new athletic facility which they can be proud of?

With your state of mind, why have anything new and improved? It's people like you who patch problems with as little money as possible and complain about everything. Does it take a student to get injured at the current facility due to antiquated equipment/facility before any action is done? Why don't you look at the bigger picture. And it's also not like you are the only one paying for this.

What you do not realize is that their are long term savings i.e. water. Many new high school stadiums have synthetic grass which does not need to be maintained or watered, thats labor and water savings. The labor used to maintain could be used else where in the school district. Also the current stadium is over 30 years old, it needs to be modernized to meet safety codes.

Who is the F'n idiots?

I will continue to post and I will continue to explain how even the people pushing this bond think they have asked for too much! If we cleaned up what we already have, we likely wouldn't even need to spend 12 million dollars!

This facility was once "maintained" by Feather River Park District, who walked away from their commitment because they couldn't afford to "maintain" it. Same agency spending your money now on Riverbend Park and the drug-magnet skate park. Are they involved in this process now? They have track programs at Harrison stadium.

I thought the bond was 20 dollars a year per $100,000 assesed value of your home.

So if your house is worth 250,000 dollars that is
60 dollars a year. Divide that by 12 months that will cost a homeowner only 5 dollars a month!

Stop complaining it is not that bad. The people who benefit from this the most will be the kids who are going to use the stadium!

Talk to folks in Kelly Ridge whose home is worth more than 250,000 dollars! We are NOT all "Oroville types."
