A 22-year-old Oroville man who engaged in a four-hour standoff with Butte County law enforcement agencies last May was sentenced Tuesday to 12 years, four months in state prison for stealing firearms from the home of his girlfriend's mother and stepfather.

Didn't they say he stole the firearms from a police officer when this originally happened? Why is there no mention of that here? Notice they left out the girlfriend's name and the names of her mom and stepdad? I wonder if she got any punishment for being an accomplice or if she got to walk because that police officer was her stepfather? Or were the guns really not stolen from a police officer but from her father? Please, Mercury Register, be more detailed in your story.

It's an ER in MR clothing. I have constant beefs with their shoddy reporting and excessive sensationalism for the sake of covering up the fact that their stories just flat out suck. Released from prison = Felony #1...Add these two = Felony #3... That's 3 strikes and should be 25 years NOT 12 years.
And the girlfriend??? She's not the innocent victim she is portrayed to be. Drug charges that disapper like magic...convicted on a Felony in May 2009 and about to be released...It's not what you know, it's who you know!
