Cats and barking dogs face new rules
Barking dogs and crowds of kitties are about to find Butte County a less hospitable place.

Unfortunatly this is just another way for animal control to act like supercops. They are completly useless unless its to get easy money from people. This is making it easier on them by needing only one complaint. When is enough finally enough when it comes to there overbearing ways.

I will tell you when enough is enough and that is when real concerned pet owners take control of their pets. In our neighborhood there is a dog that (and i'm not exagerating) barks constantly all night and all day, its owner refuses to answer their door when we try to complain, I have talked to and filed complaints with animal control twice about this dog, I have written letters to the owner complaining and threatening to take them to court and as of this day this owner completely ignores me, and other neighbors who have complained. so this law if passed will maybe finally allow me to get some undisturbed sleep. I have no problem with animals, I grew up on a farm, But I do have a problem with owners that allow their animal to run amok, or continually bark and disturb entire neighbors.
Pass this law, Animal Control can use the extra income to offset their cost for all the throw away animals that arrive there daily.

I agree with Supervisor Yamaguchi. There definitely needs to be more than one complainer or you will have neighbors using this out of spite. It's too easy for someone to lie and get someone dinged for $100 or worse, just out of spite.

It's about freakin' time! Barking dogs annoy the **** out of me. The owner's should be fined. How do you not hear your dog going crazy and disturbing everyone else?

I've seen warring neighbors do anything they could to harm the other neighbor and use the dog barking as an excuse too, but a little nudge from the cops to quiet their dog down wouldnt hurt. If the holier then thou animal rights people would shut their friggin traps, the anti-bark surgery could come back in vogue and solve the whole problem

I can deal with the barking, but it would be helpful to us all if you keep your studs contained and not roaming all over.
I really don't need three litters a year do to your irresponsibility. He's your dog, and your responsibility to keep him where he belongs. |

what makes others have the right to tell a home owner whom pays there taxes on there home what they can or can not have ,there are barking dogs all over butte county. so let me get this right if a fire truck goes by blairing out its sirens then all the dogs go off howling, we need to make a complaint.and for people whom do not have pets they realy cant say much and people who have cats that are not spayed or neuterd should try to get help at low cost animal clinics remember its not the animals fault either

While most agree that barking dogs are a problem what is more of a problem is owners allowing their dogs to run free. With dog bites and scrap where it isn't supposed to be. Animal control won't do much for Rural residents that have a problem and now they want to tell us how many cats we can have. Is this poorly written law for breeding Catteries or general home owners that Spay/neuter their pets and rescue more than 6-8? Is this law going to allow for grandfathering or do you expect homeowners to decide which of their pets live and die? Poorly written laws hurt more than they help. The original supervisor that thought up this new law should be replaced if they have o little respect for residents of Butte County that they rush into a bad law.

This proposed new rule is outraggous. I agree with "LIZ" that barking dogs should be addressed but there is already an ordaniance in place to do that. Animal control doesn't inforce that one do why dwell on it. I can agree, to a point, that multiple cats or dogs at a residence should be fixed but that too is the owners choice. A trust was left to stray cats (4.8M) in Butte County which was sucked up by Animal Control instead of allowing folks to get pets spayed/neutered. Where were they then???? NOW they want to step in and play GOD !!!

dear liz your are right i have 6 male cats and all were strays and it cost me alot of money to fix them but it was the right thing to do and now some one decided the didnt want there pet cat any more so the dump it in a alley with six kittens , all i can say is this law wii do more harm than help if people get fines and cant pay there will be more strays thank you liz for pointing this out

TO: "try to be nice" I have 10 cats all fixed and I won't decide who lives and dies. I have rescued just about all of them in one way or another. A full litter was dumped down the mail shoot at the Post office and I still have 2 and found homes for the rest.
I have tried in vein to get this county to put in a few speed bumps and offered to pay for it by my house and still NO help. It will take a child to die before they think about it. Why can't they work on something like that ? |

Ditto! If this passes the first people I am going to turn in for barking dogs is Connelly and Ms. Murdock. This is never going to fly. I would sue the County in a second if they ever thought about harrassing me over one complaint for my dog barking. |

The individuals who let their dogs bark relentlessly, or roam outside their property and allow them to cause problems, are most likely not going to pay any sort of fine no matter how much you try to get them to pay it - either due to a lack of money or just plain lack of care and concern. I can see more animals being abused by this because they won't stop barking, and if the dogs don't stop, they'll most likely be dumped out on an old road somewhere - thus causing further problems and costs.

This has not passed yet and there is still time for public input. If you are opposed to this law you need to contact your Supervisor (even if you are going to vote against him) and let them know you are opposed to this. If you let this pass and your neighbor or enemy calls in a complaint against you Animal Control will show up at your front door. You do not want to fight the county at that time it needs to be done now.

just because pet owners love their pets, not everyone is a pet lover.everyone has a right to peace and quiet at home.as a loud stereo is obnoxious to people,so are cats that wander, dogs that bark incessantly.to intrude on another person's solitude is rude.be responsible pet owners for your cats and dogs.

I 100% agree with DOL that everyone should contact their supervisor on this issue. DOL listed the link to get to them and we all should take a stand while we have a voice and not later when it could be too late.
Seems almost funny that a NON pet lover wants to be in the country. The city is a more sterile place for folks that don't like pets. The country IS animals. |

The person that started all this latest stuff by getting the ear of the county is at the end of my street. He bought a spec house, moved up from the city, and instantly becomes active in the politics of the POA and County trying to change everything to suit his preferences as he wants his neighbor (known in the neighborhood as "the cat lady") to rid herself of her cats "for her health". He proceeded to trap 17 cats which he is sure are all hers (taking matters into his own hands.) When I told him he should have stayed in the city, he stated I have no right to tell him what he should do. Funny, as he imposes what he thinks people "should" do on his neighbor and is trying to do so on his neighborhood and entire county. Well, if someone is concerned for his health as a smoker, maybe they ought to go grab the cigarettes out of his mouth, the same way he snatched the neighbors cats. |
