First, the prohibition is not needed because smoking is banned in every indoor place in L.A., and since there is no proof that smoking outdoors harms anybody, this proposed law is based on ant-smoking fanaticism rather than true health concerns. To anybody worried about walking by a smoker in L.A., I think I'd be safe to say that secondhand smoke is the least of your air quality worries. If this draconian ban passes, I hope all you do-goders enjoy your smoke-free sidewalks and patios so you can better inhale all the diesel and SUV emissions and our city's legendary smog. Don't we have bigger issues in L.A.?
