Any parallels; other than it was Federal Funding wanted for both?

However did the Grinning Midget happen to catch Yobama in the White House ?
Yobama must have had a cancellation in his busy schedule of tourism.

And the Midget must have looked around at the premises with a sense of regret that he would never be an inmate of same.

Villaraigosa's trip to Washington, D.C., was his fourth in the last two months to lobby for the 30-10 plan, in which the federal government would guarantee $40 billion over 10 years that would be repaid with revenue from a half-cent sales tax.

"We have shown we are willing to tax ourselves to put the money up," Villaraigosa has said. "We have shown we are willing to pay for it. We just need federal money to get the projects started."

Obama Highway Plan Fuels Talk of Gas Tax Hike
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/10/11/ob ...
snip
In the report released last week, the panel co-chaired by Mineta and Skinner suggested raising the fuel tax in the short-term and then instituting a system that charges Americans for every mile they drive in the long-term.
The report estimated that the "gap" between what the federal government has and what the federal government needs for transportation projects falls somewhere between $134 billion and $262 billion a year.
Snip
DeHaven, though, argued for more private industry involvement, claiming that the gas tax has only served to finance a federal "slush fund." He said that part of the problem contributing to the trust fund's red ink is that lawmakers peel away highway dollars for non-highway programs like mass transit, bicycle paths, beautification projects and earmarks.

Oh yea lets spend money taxpayers don't have like it grows on trees, and even better lets spend it on something that will attact more dirt poor people to LA because they do so much for our economy.

We need more people who can't afford a car, and all the extra pollution that they make by using more power when they come here.

We also need the overloaded sewer systems that they create as they pack more people in less space than ever before in history.

We also can't wait to up the funding for other things those people tend to use more of too, like WIC, Food Stamps, and Section 8 Housing.

Maybe we should change our license plates; instead of the sunshine state we should be the Welfare State.

The Mayor for got to tell them his boycot od Arizona has cost the State millions in lost revenue. The # 2 industry in the State is touristism. We have lost much of that as people show support for Arizona and do not come to Ca.

Notice the Midget's standing tall in the photo.

They cropped out the orange crate he's standing on.

Love to see another angle of that shot; find out if the box used to contain Valencias.

Hate to think Alcalde is standing on a box for Florida Navels.

Either way - he can made a soap box out of it when he comes home, this being part of his plan to reduce greenhouse emissions from autos.

What's greener than that?

On Tuesday, October 12, 2010 Los Angeles Council President Garcetti had to CANCEL the scheduled meeting due to “Awaiting A Quorum” again because Council members TONY CARDENAS, JANICE HAHN, and BILL ROSENDAHL did not bother to be in their seats at 10:00 a.m., as MANDATED BY THEIR OWN COUNCIL RULES.

Completing this crazy Subway will only take people out of their cars and give them more mobility. If L.A.'s population continues to increase, it'd be better to keep people in their own neighborhoods, where they won't be able to "get the economy moving".

Same problem with the Obama Administration proposing to use deficit spending to prime the economy and create jobs. People should create jobs on their own without gov't help ! And deficit spending should be reserved for tax cuts, not for job creation - it's just ridiculous.

And I also think reputable reporters should continue to refer to this project as the "Subway to the Sea" or the extension "to Santa Monica". Anyone who's really paying attention knows it will go to Westwood (or the V.A. at most), only, and not so far as Santa Monica city limits (let alone the beach). So keep up the misinformation to dupe its supporters!

Viva traffic !

What's so wrong about union jobs (in general)? Better pay, healthcare benefits, and so on and so forth.

I can't wait for Novemeber 3rd to come so we can shut down this weak conservative mania.

No, WE are looking for cash. Millions of people have voted and continue to support this.

Surely, you jest.

This isn't wasteful spending because unlike the mountain of debt we have, we have a solid plan to pay this loan off. Linking the two is futile and childish. In fact, construction bids from contractors are coming in AT LEAST 10% below projections. And that's a very conservative estimate.

Nice try. But most Mexicans don't know squat about building mass transit. Visit a mass transit construction site and all you'll see is Americans.

No what's ridiculous is this height of fallacy that this is an example of deficit spending, when in reality this is what's done for highway projects ALL THE TIME(often supported by Republicans). Do you really believe tax cuts on wealthy americans/so-called "entrepreneurs" - that, on average, independent studies show, spend ONLY 5% of their personal revenue on their businesses - is gonna help this economy???!!!
The only reason why people like you are showing up is because of the healthcare bill. People like you didn't say **** when the Republican White House added $10 Trillion to the national debt.

What is wrong with paying a union member $35 an hour to dig a trench with a shovel? Are you kidding? How much money does the guy running the machinery make?

The unions back all the laws to allow illegals into our country. They say it is not their responsibility to check for citizenship.

Andrew Stern spent more time in China setting up unions than he did visiting the White House. Unions are pro One World Government. They are for redistributing the wealth to other countries.

The unions are funding the Jerry Brown campaign, they are backing all the socialist politicians that are killing our manufacturing and agricultural jobs with regulations and fines.

What is the purpose to create mass transportation if there are no jobs?

How does a country make money if it doesnt export?

How is a company supposed to be competitive in the world market if they are taxed to death trying to pay for all these government programs? The European Union is not a model to follow. What do we buy from Europe? Nothing.

There is talk of increasing our taxes on gas, making gas cost 9 dollars per gallon, and then there is talk of charging us 25 cents per mile to pay for all of these transit projects. They are giddy over the fact that it will force us out of the suburbs and back into the cities.
