If a liquor store is the wrong thing to have maybe there should be a puff shop put in. I bet there will be a line all the way to the courthouse, on a slow day. nothing like a medical puff to calm things down

Maybe some kind of doctor could check out the power plant & get a medical card for it & instead of coal fill it with with some good pot & next time it runs the whole county would be happy.

question about security officers. ooops police officers providing security.

so as i understand it, the cost is thirty bucks an hour per security..darn i did it again, per police officer. sorry folks, i had a big security firm in kansas city many years ago, we were loathed by some of the police departments which was rightfully so due to the personnel hired by some firms but i ran a check on each and every security officer i hired. they were clean and were trained.

but i digress. just asking who gets the thirty bucks an hour. do the police officers get the thirty bucks. is there tax taken out of pay. or does the police dept get the money and pay the officers overtime.

darn, a simple event can sure get costly. and personnel is needed to keep peace i understand. well anyway, best of luck on the event and hope it turns out well.

we do see more officers out and about and making stops with the new chief of police. seems like the police officers talk a lot on a phone. i wonder if they text while driving. just a question folks. carry on. lamarguy

I see them using a cell, is it standard issue, paid for with tax dolars? Each cop car and cop has a two-way, must be doing personal stuff? On tax payer time!
Sure have lots of illegal parking on west elm, wonder why they don't issue tickets? Or vehicles left running and unattended, a violation! Speeding and red light runners, as in semi's?

Caged Conflict and a new liquor store. Wow, Lamar has reached for a new cultural and social low with this one.

I've an idea! Since is appears Lamar is going down the toilet why not open a few p-orn shops on Main Street along with half a dozen so called "medical" marijuana shops. A few more liquor store, bars where all our social elite can hang out, and a few more bible thumping churches would really round out the picture. Why not? Its all businesses right! And with all the empty shops, it will be sure to attract customers, even those of the lowest class!

Don't forget about a couple more banks since we do not already have enough of them and there will be so much more money. LOL

It is bad when a 20 year old has to tell you all to grow up. Do you realize you are an example of the reason why so many younger people leave Lamar for college. . . and never come back. It is because you have to trash talk everything. If it is not your idea, it is not a good idea. Once again, grow up and maybe Lamar could prosper.

Well... It sure will not prosper when ignorance is a dominant traits amongst most citizens, Whether you like it or not, a liquor store is going to bring jobs. Maybe one or two, but that is one or two more jobs than before. As for the fights, do you read the future. Maybe if you looked at the glass half full once in a while, things would appear much better.

Do not think its "ignorance" but wanting Lamar to be more that a low brow ghetto. Two of our latest "new" businesses on Main Street (other than the upcoming liquor store) are bail-bondsman. Great, what does that say about Lamar other than its overrun with criminals. There is a liquor store on about every block. Fantastic family environment, at least you dont have to drive far to get your drunk on. And if the only upcoming social event everyone is talking about is a bunch of Neanderthals beating the crap out of each other in a cage with bloodthirsty drunks cheering them on...well now I see why the young people leave Lamar. Its not the "attitudes" but the fact, like I said before, thei town is becoming a low brow ghetto with no drive to become something better !!!

liquor promotes violence, did you see the Pueblo Chieftain yesterday, Lamar man arrested for bar fighting causing serious injuries to the other person, and this Lamar man is affiliated with the Suthpins! We don't need more liquor stores, we need larger companies that employ lots of citizens! Cage fights and liquor stores aren't the answer!

Are they not entitled to their own opinions of what may be good or bad for this community?

But this is Lamar and the lowest common denominator and caveman thinking and behavior rule. While you are at it, why not bring back prostitution to North Main Street. It generates tons of income, employment for single moms, and something for the masses to do after they finish watching the Neanderthals beat the ever loving nonsence out of each other...

Im old enough to recall Lamar as an ALL AMERICAN CITY. i cant recall the year they won the award, something like 59 or so. when there were no empty stores and we would come to the games between our home team, the Trojans and scream and yell on the sidelines or in the stands to beat the Savages.

now Las Animas is likened to a ghost town and will be if Hickenlooper gets his way. you really think he cares about us down here. Hes more into his beer as seen in the Post. comments made by those along the Front Range dont help us a bit.

We lived and worked in Denver for seven years, people said why the heck do you go there to visit, speaking of our Arkansas Valley. answers were many, family etc. Most said no future there. We are here now for health reasons as the lower altitude helps the lungs, plus family here to support our later demise of bad health and we want to see Lamar thrive but we need businesses, put more people to work. anyhow thats our take tonight. get positive folks. thats the only way it will work. We will be opening a little shop soon, hope to save people some money with our services and perhaps put people to work. thanks Lamarguy
