Rivero didn't file complaints that other LCSO officers called him racial slurs such as " ****," he said.

To any one in this county that thinks this is not going on you have the mind of a mule. This county the sheriffs Dept, and the School Districts police themselves and i welcome the DOJ AND JERRY BROWNS OFFICE TO COME IN AND SEE what a ambrassment this county is. The schoold board down to the sheriffs office what a joke, i hope that they put the hammer down on the county and make a example to everyone in the state, that this will not be tolerated.

Rivero is just calling other officers racist because they are white.
Anti-racist is a code word for anti-white.

You dont see whites flooding into brazil demanding equal treatment and soliciting law enforcement positions in brazil. In this we have a unique problem.
If there are Illegal Aliens sewing their criminal jackets in this county we need them to be arrested and deported. Rivero seems to think his kinfolk are OK with breaking our immigration laws.

Lake County in her 88.14 percent european majority demographic doesnt need a Race baiting South American running the rule book.

The next thing you may see with this guy in office is all those mexicans standing out in front of Johns market with badges and guns calling themselves American peace officers.

When my children were teenagers it appeared they were being profiled because of their age. If the driver looked under 21 they were pulled over constantly. With zero result...just pulled over and harassed. Or you could say LEOs pulled them over and let them know their behavior was being watched.

Glad the Department of Justice ruling, once again, points to KGO-TV being the one-sided reporters they have become. The producers continually make poor choices. Never watch KGO news because they have an agenda...not the facts.

Concur with Shagnasty re the story. Basically Rivero, Ringen, and Lande have an axe to grind - that is, Rivero's running for sheriff against Mitchell, Ringen is running his campaign, and according to Facebook, Lande is involved at some levelin Rivero's campaign. Yet the fact that the guy making the accusations has a significant motivation to hurl accusations is barely mentioned. I also wonder why, if this is such a problem, they had absolutely no evidence beyond what these three said.

Castro did a fine job of cleansing his country of criminally insane people by making them the only ones eligible for legal immigration to the united states. True.

The time line of Fidel Castro's immigration policy is eerily tangent to Rivero's arrival in the united states.

Dan Noyes claims:

The I-Team has confirmed that the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating serious accusations that officers pull over people based solely on race, and that officers themselves are treated differently because of their race, disability or sexual orientation.

According to the Lake County Record bee:

The Department of Justice looked into allegations but has not launched an investigation, Spokesman Alejandro Miyar of the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ said.

That's quite the confirmation there DAN! Wonderful work /Sarcasm. What else did you "stretch" in this report?

Forget Dan - go read the blogs on the ITeam site - there you will find Mitchells two responses and Ringens disection of how artfully our Sheriff couched his words to make others look bad.

So Donna, you think 18 arrests in a whole year on patrol is doing a great job? So even if you just use the time he was on patrol, it doesn't amount to much, now does it??

I viewed the KGO7 I-Team article and found it both disturbing and disappointing.

Sheriff Mitchell did a song and dance and when it was over I was left wondering. Where is the accountability we expect of our law enforcement officials? What kind of an organization is this?

The Sheriff ignores or refuses to respond to legitimate inquiries by the media. I thought the Sheriff worked for the community and is responsible for answering to that community. Why do citizens concerns or complaints go unanswered?

The men being interviewed came off and whiners, back stabbers and malcontents not as professional law enforcement officials. I felt they lacked credibility and obviously has agendas of their own.

There is something radically wrong here and I see nothing being done to correct it.

I’ve had the privilege of meeting a number of Lake County Police Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies. I’ve found them to be reasonable, caring and professional. At the same time I can’t say that all the concerns expressed are not valid. A community with this much animosity for its public officials is something we need to be concerned with and wonder why that is and what’s being done to address the complaints real or perceived.

I’ve never been a proponent of civilian review boards which I feel they are politically motivated or biased and generally not qualified to evaluate police work. If you have not done it how can you understand what the job entails? All to often proponents are special interest groups with their own agenda and can seldom be counted on to be fair to all sides.

Community policing came into being several years ago. Initially the rank and file resisted it as they often do change. Many police officials failed in their attempts to promote it because they could not or did not explain it properly to their staff, their officers or the community. As time went on officers determined that community policing was nothing more then most officers had been doing routinely for years. To protect and serve the community. To help make things easier for everyone. To solve the everyday problems faced by people who didn’t know who to ask for help or how to get things done. To direct people to those who could help solve things.

Where is community policing in Lake County?

There is more to police work then pinching dopers even though that too is part of the job. Who is to blame? Is it the officer or deputy on the street or the commander who has failed to properly train and supervise? Shouldn’t law enforcement’s senior command be responsible to dictating policy and seeing that policy is carried out while holding subordinates accountable?

At the same time the community has a right to hold their officials accountable for their actions or lack of action.

I wonder.

There were only 18 arrests because he didn't pull over people based solely on race. Duhhh

Juat to be clear I think it was 18 arrests in 7 years. To hit that mark you can't pull people over period.

The Sheriff doesn't have to couch his words to make Ringin look bad. Rignin does that all by himself. Did you see the smirk on his face when he said "Pretty much." What does the answer "Pretty much" mean to you? I see that the same as "not exactly." Certainly Ringin could have clarified or responded in more certain terms if Rivero's claim was accurate.
