This school is wrong to be discussing this subject. Languages are supposed to be an elective subject. Spanish should have no priority. English is our language, not Spanish. I really can't blame these students for their reaction, as I feel the same.

What we are talking about here is nationalism, in a good sense, I might add. Our nation speaks teh English language. Hispanics on the other hand come from other countries and speak Spanish. English, the language of the Founders. THey wanted to have us speak German, becaue they were so committed to the break with the Crown. Cooler heads prevailed when they realized the absolute stupidity of trying to make an entire nation learn another language, much like we see going on today.

While the display may have been inappropriate for a public setting, the students should have had a forum for voicing their issues. If they are forced to take a Spanish class as a requirement, then there are definitely problems with that system. Educational systems should be more about supporting American values, not multiculturalism or 'inclusiveness'. This is a country based on a culture. Forced dilution of that culture will only serve to destroy what makes America great.
Additionally, the educational systems of this country should be encouraging free thinking, not blind acceptance of political correctness.

Though I likely would not have done it as they did, I certainly would have expressed a measure of dissatisfaction and resentment with the system in place.
