I believe it comes on at 6:00 PM here in New Mexico. Tonight it's preempted by football.

What a waste of time and money. I think Renee Olemacher and her relatives are one of the most screwed up dis-functional group of people I hav!e ever seen and don't deserve any more time or money wasted on them. If I had a family like this I would hope somebody would have the sympathy to just blow me away and end it for me.

Your show was nicely done; however, I wish you had checked your facts a little more throughly. Again, the Vigils lied, specifically Jessica: she couldn't have seen Renee text at the funeral becauxe she had no phone, the police had it. She also didn't test drive a BMW, she merely drove by and commented that they were pretty cars, and this was months after the incident. The biggest question of all: if the self proclaimed benevolent Vigil family....Jessica in particular was so afraid that Renee murdered her parents, then why did they have her live with them in their homes? Most people would not dream of having a murder suspect on their property.

It would seem that the initial suspicion fell upon the daughter simply because of some paniced behavior and an utter dearth of other suspects. The initial suspicion seems to have been somewhat perpetuated by financial considerations in a contest over the estate.
It does seem that the mortgage broker had the weaponry, the knowledge of the location and the criminal drive required. It may be unfortunate that police searches were poorly executed, but it does not re-invigorate any evidence against the daughter who simply remains a person who seems to be often criticized for her financial and personal dealings with her parents and with her relatives.

The family did not give me the impression that they're after money.According to them,Renee had no respect for her parents and that is what makes them believe that Renee was capable of committing the murders. What people think of you depends on how you present yourself and how you live your life.Granted,it doesn't make you a murderer, but it's human nature to get that impression.I watched "48 Hours" saturday night and I got the impression that she is a very, very cold person.Again,it doesn't make her a murderer, but it gives that impression.

No respect for her parents?
Perhaps.
However the parents allowed her to live there and made her the beneficiary of a substantial life insurance policy so it seems the parents weren't all that concerned about her being 'cold'.
No one in the area seems to have reported hearing loud arguments or anything.
Santiago has a history of owning a 9mm Ruger. Daughter doesn't. No indication the daughter ever met Santiago much less recruited him as a killer.

Good day
What type of person are you, you represent a murderers character, perhaps your family should watch out for you, intervention if you will, bet your a drinker, much less a loser in life. You do reveal your personal identity here. And you end your note with "Good day"? Ok Jeffery Dahmer.

My interest is how the grief process might have worked in this family. There seems to be a repeat pertaining to those who are caregivers and especially, a son or daughter, being accused of all kinds of horrible untruths when a parent dies. Is it only greed? Could it be a part of the survivors going throught blame to maneuver through the process of disbelief, anger, bargaining, and resolve? Even if that resolve is placing the heavy blame on someone else for the death of someone and even if the person blamed did everything that they could to do the right thing? Please respond to skatemix@aol.com. Thanks!

48 Hours produced an extremely biased report! They failed to mention that Santiago showed up at the Howard's apartment at 6 am, uninvited - just a few days before their brakes were cut - which also happened to be the same day they picked up the checks that Santiago forged. They (48 Hours) interviewed Mrs. Howard for 3 hours and aired - what - 10 seconds of her interview. They filmed the apartment complex where they lived...Why? There are a lot of similarities in what the Howard's endured with Santiago - that ties Santiago to the untimely demise of the Ohlemachers. When they asked CBS why they showed Erin Moriarty at the gun range, they responded that it was just something silly to do. Silly is right...you only shoot at 1 target not 3 Erin! The air time would have been better spend showing that Santiago is not the angel he was portrayed in the report.

A lot of facts get twisted in a high profile murder case like this but one thing that really bothered me was when Renee stated she was in her bedroom when she heard the shots, she was not telling the truth. When somebody is remembering & sharing an incident that has happened in their life & replaying the event in their mind they look up. Renee was looking down, a dead giveaway to anybody who has studied body language & eye movement she was being untruthful. However, this does not mean she had any part in the murder of her parents. Santiago is an exposed thief, con artist & liar. I'm not ruling him out as the culprit.

I would like to reinforce what another poster has mentioned-
Bernadette did not have as close of a relationship with her family as her sisters imply, and I know for a fact that her father disliked (and even avoided) contact with his in-laws. Bernadette even moved out of state to get away from her relatives.
Bernadette's family treated Renee dispicably following the death of her parents. While she was in shock and grieving, they were searching for prices on ebay in order "buy" her parents' belongings from their estate for cut-rate prices. Can you imagine searching ebay to determine the current market value for your sister's possessions after her death? That is just one story of many. They are crooked, corrupt people.
Renee loved her parents. She honestly loved her parents more than anyone I know. She spent evenings in aerobics classes with her mom and Sundays on the couch watching football with her father. They were incredibly proud of her achievements in school. They were not only her parents; they were her best friends and confidants. She admired them; she respected them; she loved them.
You can easily question why she called a number instead of 911 or reacted in a certain way, but when someone has just experienced a traumatic event and is in shock, they may not react as expected.
While some of you may accuse Renee as wanting the insurance money and study her every body movement and reaction to support your conclusion, maybe you should consider the Vigils. They are greedy, selfish people, and I am certain that Bernadette would be ashamed of their actions and treatment of Renee.

To you insider, who are you to condemn as to be condemned! May God have mercy on your soul as it seems that what you see or hear you believe. The Vigil's as you claim are greedy, I have to disagree with you they are successful business owners, and hard working people. I knew three of the siblings including Bernadette. They have not want for money, but only justice as to who killed their sister. Get a life and be wary of who you judge, It must suck to be you!!!!

How does a civil suit get justice. That won't prove who killed their sister. I thought civil suits were about money.... I'm just saying...

i hope renee gets to live her live in peace, and enjoy her money. It will be no replacement for her parents, but hopefully things work out for her.

her family seem pretty sick in the head, nothing they say makes any sense - they have absolutely no evidence for anything. greedy morons.

I find it funny that Renee's family wants to say she did this, yet they have filed Civil suits against Renee AND Santiago. Something stinks here, and I think it's Renee's family. There are too many potential suspects that WEREN'T EVEN LOOKED AT, and one of those may be the killer. I work in Law Enforcement, and it's highly unusual for a person who shot 2 people to have NO gunshot residue, no blood spatter on them, NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE. If she did this, based on time of death, how would she be able to wash GSR and blood off, clean her shower area up, and get rid of the weapon? Also, if she conspired to commit murder, a suspect would have emerged by now. The police NEVER said anything about her HAVING her parents murdered. One of the first rules in a homicide investigation is to investigate witnesses as potential suspects. They did that, and it went cold. You can't convict someone of murder because of their reaction to death, or their attitude. If that were possible, 1/2 the U.S. population would be behind bars. Someone said in a blog that she acted nervous. That's actually a normal reaction to interviews, and interrogations for some people. I think this was a sloppy police investigation(with PLANTED EVIDENCE...There are pictures to prove the shell casing evidence was planted). The officers couldn't do what they wanted to legally, so they planted evidence. Idiots! It was shaky evidence at best, and if they had done their job, it's doubtful they would've felt the need to do that. Barney Fife would've been more competent.

Frankly what did Santiago have to gain? As for Renee, she had motive and opportunity but I think she would rather have her parents back.

Remember no GSR was found on her hands nor arms by the investigating officers. Moreover everyone grieves in their own way.

Shame on the family for turnings its back on Renee.

Sure her family is suspicious of her, but she did nothing and still has done nothing to bring a killer to justice. There is more out there than you realize.
The real shame is on Renee for not doing her part to try to find justice for her parents. The killer remains at large 4+ years later.

Yo Barney, idiot, doesnt your statement of doubtful contradict your own statment. furthermore if you were the police barney wouldnt you plant some evidence that had some quialityto it? do you understand how many police officers are involved in planting evidence? you wouldn figure that not one of tem would have the upstanding morals such as yo and say dont plant this evidence? Barney, who have you put on trial here the guy who commited the murders or the police department that arrested the murderer? sometimes its hard to believe that regular people can do horrible things. kind of like you writing the blog about the albuquerque police department. if you do your research you will locate people that have been convicted because simply there is no other person that could have possible dont it. there have been people that have been convicted without dna evidence, likewise there are people that been let offf because of lack of evidence such as this. she had plenty of time fo shower and clean up before the police got there. she dialed the 242 cops first instead of 911, how much longer did she wait before she even called anyone after they were killed. what do you do in law enforcemnt, file clerk? thats what barney fife was.
