Van Nuys Performing Arts Center Co-Owner Accused Of Assault

I understand that the first trial for Joey Malone was a mistrial or hung jury. The case is being tried again this week, Feb. 9th, 2009, but includes only 2 of the original 4 defendants. I wonder why the other 2 defendants dropped out of this new trial. Maybe someone who knows can post the outcome of this second trial.

On February 13th, 2009, Joseph Sheck was convicted of three misdemeanors counts. He was sentenced on May 15th, 2009, to lifetime registration as a sex offender and he will serve 360 days in county jail. Joey is appealing the case so he is not serving time yet.

He has assaulted female dancers for too long and on behalf of hundreds of dancers, we thank these brave women and children for having the courage to finally speak the truth and put an end to this. Yes Paul, you need to keep your girls away. I personally know two of the young ladies involved. They went through hell doing what was right because they oouldn't live with the, be quiet rule, and have this happen to other young women or girls. There are good people in the entertainment world, you don't need to take the abuse. These were very hard working, honest girls with a love to dance. Joey destroyed that. LADM you should be ashamed! Joey was found guilty on three misdemeanors based on accusations from just one defendant, an ADULT woman that CHOSE to have physical contact with him and stayed at the studio for a long time after the supposed contact took place. And when things didn't go her way, she pulled the student/teacher card and pressed charges. ALL the other charges from the other three defendants were found NOT GUILTY. This woman is a disgrace to all women, claiming that because he was her teacher she "had to" have physical contact. Grow up and accept responsibility for your actions. Yes, Karma, this woman will know bad Karma very soon.

Dear alleged real truth, first a hung jury does not mean not guilty. You sound like a certain stage mom that thinks a little sex is a fair trade to try to get your daughters in to the biz. And what about the emails this teacher sent addmiting his guilt and how he ruined the studio.We will not even bring up the phone conversation that was recorded by the LAPD.
