If you really care about the District you represent, resign. Immediately. Is there some reason you don't want the replacement process to begin right away? We who reside in the 7th deserve and demand our right to representation.

Julia showed that government can make our poor millionaires. I don't care for her politics, but I wish her the best as she lives our her time with cancer. God Bless Julia and her family.

I'm sorry she's sick, but come on Tully. ARE YOU KIDDING?,her record of shear party politics and being above the local law is long and abusive. This politician has NEVER has an original idea in her life.

Andy Jacobs and the rest of his cronies should have realized that Indianaplis Politics is NOT the movie

." Carefully orchestrated events -- such as walking off a stage in 2002 to protest alleged dirty campaign tricks against her -- became routine and helped rally her die-hard supporters.
The "alleged dirty campaign tricks" consisted of Julia's opponent showing the world that she didn't pay her taxes like the rest of us do. She called the realeasing of that particular nugget of information "a racist ploy". She was rotten to the core and it's a damned shame that any of her relatives would take over for her. But it WILL happen.
As far as missing her; how can I miss you if you won't go away?

But she claims to STILL be impoverished. I read one of her recent financial disclosure statements that said she had only $11,800 in assets (the form excludes valuation of primary residence). Ever since I read that, I kept wondering where that $165K annual salary is going.

Wow...This is obviously a racist comment from an ignorant individual. There is no support in this statement at all. You have no historical reference in your statement, nor do you realize Carsonís success in cleaning welfare cheats, and not supporting special interests unlike many other Marion county politicians...like privatization (giving away public land to your friends for personal gain).

I hope that the Carson haters will back off and allow this woman peace in the time she has remaining. Julia, you've helped a LOT of people that otherwise would have not found a voice. Godspeed.

Her rise proves anything is possible...yeah if you lie, steal and cheat anything is possible. Come on Matt, I understand not wanted to say bad things about someone who has just announced they are dying of cancer but is this a total puff piece. Who needs to send out campaign mailers when you have Matt Tully at the Indy Star

Hmmm ... apparantly all you have to do in order to justify your incompetence is say you have cancer.

Julia was one of the sweetest people and best speakers I've ever met. She could think on her feet, was witty and articulate. Certainly more so than our idiot president, who can barely read the speeches written for him, let alone think anything up on the spot. Those of you who say she didn't have an original idea, or worse, call her an "illiterate bag lady", obviously have never actually met the woman. Which doesn't surprise me. I suspect you are all Monday morning quarterbacks when it comes to your political involvement.

Hmmm... apparently all you have to do to prove your incompetence is to spell apparently wrong.

Thomas,
You are one funny dude. Go back and look at the quote you cited. Please show me the racism in it.

When someone says "welfare," you assume racism? Wow! It appears you said "racist" first. How disappointing that you think that way.

This is one of the most disgusting posts I have read so far. Politics aside, where is the compassion or empathy for a human being. Think of how you would feel if this was your family member or yourself before you speak!

Why not? We took a "half-literate" HALF-WIT, draft-dodging, drug-using, alcoholic frat boy and turned him into a president. Thankfully, THAT EXPERIMENT will ALSO soon be over. And what a FAILURE it has been.... LOL

Some of the comments here are sickening. Rep. Carson is terminally ill. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

Even if you do have issues with Rep. Carson now is not the time nor the place.

Her record includes avoidance of maintenance of her slum properties and outstanding taxes. I am sympatheitc but not to include rewriting the truth of her tenure.
