i really don't want to stay at a nice hotel and see an employee wearing one of these things either... a company should have the right to choose their employees uniforms. If you don't like it, find another job.

I wonder if Hooters would allow this?

Just another example of Muslims trying to get "special" treatment. The next thing you know their cab drivers will want to refuse picking up passengers at the airport with alcohol or seeing eye dogs, and clerks in supermarkets will refuse to sell people pork products. It's already happening in Minnesota.

If there's a uniform or a dress code, and no exceptions are made, then no exceptions are made. Is it just me, or does it seem a bit premature to be crying discrimination before any discrimination has occurred? This seems very 'thought police' to me in my un-caffeinated state this morning.

It's not you. You are correct. It's amazing when people do this, and then can't understand why everyone else would prefer they just go away.
It's private freakin' prperty and the company can do what it wants.
Hey, when you apply for the job, then they just won't hire you. It's a pretty easy problem to solve.

good grief - how many rights to we have to give up to make sure everyone else gets their rights. GIVE IT A REST! Now we have to wear things on our head, learn spanish and not speak and love the same sex.

Just tired of everyone yelling for rights when no one looks at it as MORAL, AMERICAN, GOD FEARING WAYS.

This has to be the goofiest thing I have seen recently. You either assimilate to the population of the USA or go away. Just stop screaming.
A private enterprise has the right to enforce dress codes at all times while you are on the job. Please wake up, get a life and stop bringing religion into business. It's really simple.

America is a melting pot. So start melting.

For crying out loud Ė threats of lawsuits before the first spade of dirt gets turned? And ol' Mayor Bart is ready to cave in already. Gee, he's been waiting for the "backlash" against Indianapolis Muslims, so he finally got one after looking for it for almost 6 years. Now that's a champion of the oppressed.

Public subsidy or not, a company dress code policy is perfectly reasonable. The hijab is NOT required of women of the Muslim faith, it is a custom. If it was my custom to wear a shrunken head around my neck as part of my religious practice, my employer has the right to show me the door if I refuse to abide by his dress code. I don't have the right to force him to keep me around.

If any Special Group wants to work for a company that has dress codes for safety or public image, then either comply or don't work for that company.
It's that simple...

I doubt French women wearing bikinis or Native Americans wearing a one-feather head-dress would affect their work performance either, but businesses should be allowed to have a dress code.

If someone knows a dress code prior to being hired they shouldn't be able to expect to change the rules.

Back off this one Muslims, Americans are getting a little tired of foreign cultures wanting America to change to suit them.

QUOTE: "No democratic government in history has lasted more than 200 years, our time is up -- it would seem.

Multiculturalism will precipitate our demise. When a nation is not solidly connected by one culture, one language, one objective, one economic embodiment, enforcement of its constitution and laws and respect for each other, that nation's existence is in a downward spiral.

A nation's togetherness, political unification and economic strength depends on the above factors. Without them it will come apart."

Now it begins here. Soft terrorism, in a hijab is still terrorism. Do these people have a US flag flying inside or outside their restaurant? Would they put one up if they don't have one? What is their payoff for being the tools for this effort?

I spent 33 years in the Army - if you wanted to be in the Army you wore what they told you to - these radicals need to adhere to what any employer tells them - if they don't like that then tell them to go back where they came from - this great country spends to much time caving in to what small groups want - it's time to wake up and do what is good for this country - not some splinter group that wants to cover their head with a bed sheet - don't give in -

If the hotel hires them, and it is a part of their faith to wear these head garments, then I don't see the big deal. I never see the maids that clean the rooms when I stay at hotels. Most of the maids they hire don't clean the rooms, so if these ladies can, I don't care what they look like.

This is such an non issues.

Ladies of the Muslim faith stick to your guns. You have right not to take the head gear off. However the employers have the right to not hire you. If you think they wonít find a dozen ways to avoid hiring you then youíre nuts. There are plenty of Hispanic folk that will eagerly wear any thing you tell them too. They will blow your butts out of the water when it comes to gobbling up these jobs. You are simply setting yourself up as a target of hate in this post 9-11 era. You do still have rights in this country. You have the right not to work for a company where you disagree with their work rules. You have the right to thrive or starve based on your religious beliefs. Hell, be martyrs I here thatís big in the homeland. My neck is not normally this red but this is horsecrap. I think Iíll stop at Mickey Dees for a sausage bagel and chill out.

I THOUGHT YOU HAD TO SEPERATE CHURCH AND STATE. WHICH WOULD MEAN THAT AN GOVERING BODY WOULD BE UN ABLE TO MAKE A PLACE OF BUISNESS HIRE SOMEONE FOR THERE BIBLICAL BELIEFS.
I FEEL THAT MUSLIMS WANT US TO FEEL BAD FOR THEM JUST CAUSE THEY ALL GET A BAD RAP FROM THE WAR IN THE MIDDEL EAST. IM SORRY BUT I THINK THEY SHOULD BE TREATED LIKE ANOYONE ELSE AND NOT GET SPECIAL CONSIDERATION.

I really don't care what the muslims or Mexican want in Indiana. Both groups have the freedom to move back to where they fit in best. Quit demanding and integrate into American society.

Frankly, I don't want an Islamic convention in Indianapolis.
