Feds say city discriminated against white male officers

"...as an alleged victim of reverse discrimination in the lawsuit, filed this week in U.S. District Court."
It's not "reverse" discrimination - it is DISCRIMINATION. Why are some not performing as well? The officers used IMPD's system of testing, and then were told sorry we have to go around you to pick-up those who are less than qualified by our own testing standards.
I am thinking in this area, the best qualified should be chosen.

Affirmative Action has proven to be a complete failure, as the end result has always resulted in discrimination against one group or another.

The bottom line is that White Males are second class citizens in the US, and yet they are the ones that pay for everything, whether it is paying taxes or shedding blood for foreign occupations, or being displaced from their livelihood through corrupt/incompetent government policies and practices, such as outsourcing, H1-B Visas, or Illegal Immigration.

It is time to take this country back, or take it straight into hell!

I hope those guys win!! If it was black officers it would be all over the news and the NAACP would fill up the hotels and national media would be here - now for whites it is just a blip in the newspaper!!!

Please tell me you're kidding? This form of discrimination has been going on within public safety for 20 years. The "FEDS" are just now acknowledging it. Why do you think police/fire departments never post ranking lists during a hiring process. "They" want to pick and choose! All lists should be posted so that NO form of discrimination can be claimed...period!
Bottom line is, I want the most qualified PERSON for the job. I don't care if they're green. If a female can drag my 200 lb. body out of my burning home...super! These guys got hosed, should have been promoted. Glad you decided to fight back. No wonder IMPD is so messed up right now.

This is another good example of a slanted (toward the left) Indy Star article. Writers like this should be writing on the opinion page...not on a news story. And editors shouldn't allow these stories to be published before they edit the impartiality out of it.

Maybe these percents are off because there are not enough qualified applicants. It sounds like the city for 25 years has been trying to close this gap. Surely the city has done everything they could! Please quit putting minmmum qualified people in position that might be required to save my life. The FAA is exempt from some hiring practice because of the safety issue's. Why should not the fire police be the same?

Blacks make up 15 percent of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department; the latest census figures show blacks make up about 21 percent of the city's work force. Women make up about 13 percent of IMPD and about half of the city's work force.

We're talking about Indy here. Our government doesn't do anything right. It's like Chicago in the 30s here. Backroom deals. Outright lies by the Mayor. Corruption rife on the council. All to the detriment of their own constiuents.

Show us these studies. Put up.....or SHUT UP!

Just go down to the City County building on any given "work" (that's a laugh) day, and you'll see the failures of putting people in positions that they don't have a clue as to how to do the job.
