This is the former USA Direct for those that don't know. I worked there back in the mid 90s to '00 and it was just a matter of time, given the rapid growth of the internet and e-mail. It wasn't the best job, but there was overtime and it was steady. Unfortunately, direct mail is one of those things made almost obsolete buy the internet, coupled with the bad economy. I'm sure a lot of people who worked at USA stayed on when it was sold to Vertis and I know a few who started with USA from the birth of the company. Hopefully they will find decent work soon.

No,it's not. It is the ACG plant on the Westside of York. The DM plant that was USA Direct is safe

This is a shame. I know several of their maintenance people and the are well paid. It is going to be tough to get a job that pays as well. I wish them all good luck.

The reason the business is closing is because of the incompetent corporate management of Vertis. This has nothing to do w/ a company leaving leaving York.

It's just a matter of time until Vetis closes all there facilitys. The printing industry has been faultering for many years and now the recession was the nail in the coffin. It was a great industry to be in not any more.

And so grows the number of victims of big progressive government - not to worry I'm sure HOPE AND CHANGE are on the way. We can expect more companies like this closing in the near future c/o passage of govt. healthcare reform, cap & trade energy reforms, and labor union's card check just to name a few. Let your representatives know who you are and what you believe and most important of all we the people are in charge.

So then it has to be President Bush's Compassionate conservatism, Real plans for real people, Reformer with results, Yes, America Can Slogan policies that is the cause of the current problems.

Let your representatives know who you are and what you believe and most important of all we the people are in charge. What a completely clueless post. As someone else mentioned, print's been dying since the early 2000s. It's a rough industry to be in right now, and it has little to nothing to do with external political factors like what Obama's done or what Bush did before him. It has everything to do with the rise of the internet and with outsourcing of printing (lots of four color work is being done either in Canada or overseas).
