To the person that called in the complaint about CompUSA. hopefully if you have children or grandchildren, you have explained to them as well in no uncertain terms that if you ever find out the are taggers that you will allow them to sit in jail for a while and "contemplate" their endeavors.

reporting a building to be cleaned, does not stop the problem at the source.

And to all of you people with kids that are taggers... or friends of taggers.. I hope you comprehend completely that each time the delinquent goes out and has some fun, that it ultimately comes out of your pocket in the form of taxes and higher fees for services to pay for the cleanup. Next time the delinquent complains because they are bored, tell them if they and their friends to stop tagging, the city and businesses can use the extra money to build skate parks and other things instead of pising it into the wind with cleaning up the blight they create by tagging.

The wording of the apology sounds somewhat stilted and artificial. It is the kind of language that a public relations department would use. I agree with longtime gone in Ohio. Government employees seem to be immune from the standards of behavior that they impose on the rest of us.

What? Get away scot free? She should have been ticketed for improper movement. Her excuse is so lame, it makes me more angry when I see these people on cell phones. I was almost hit by a lady talking on the cellphone. Since then I do not tolerate and try to avoid being close to autos with people on cellphones, if at all possible. It should be banned on all moving vehicles, whether hands-free or not.

Another prime example on why cell phone use must be banned when driving a vehicle.

Recently, I was crossing Kona Street near Ala Moana Center. An SUV was aiming straight at me without any indication of slowing down. She was looking straight at me but not seeing me. I jumped out of the way. The driver was concentrating not on driving but her cell phone conversation.

The military has banned cell phone use while driving. It is an imperative we do this.

Yes, ban phone use while driving. Hands free or not, some of these clowns are distracted. How about revoking licenses of people who drive with a dog on their lap.

That State driver who made the illegal turn should have her priviledges taken away for 6 months. No State vehicles, she must use her own car and gas for transportation.

As for the vandalism, Best Buy should tag the building with their hours and locations. That may get CompUSA to move their okoles.

Why can't the State set an example and tell their workers that they shouldn't be using their cell phones while they drive? That would be something very positive. There is nothing so important that you have to be talking on the phone while you're driving! Pull off to the side, please.

about the cacao beans not being safe for dogs: too bad they can't throw that around the golf course where all the stray dogs have been killing protected birds. Just kidding.

Apparently, the concept that the most "victims" of minor trangressions want is an aknowledgement of the wrong and an apology is that... just a concept.

If, in fact, the government employee did what the writer claimed and there's no reason to doubt that the event happened as stated, a citation could only be issued if witnessed by a police or traffic officer.

The agency involved could easily claimed to be unable to identify the culprit and leave it at that... but they didn't. The driver was identified, counseled and an apology given.

Of course, the "victim" could pursue the matter. He or she could demand a police investigation be initiated. That would require that the "victim" positively identify the "suspect", perhaps through a "live" or photographic line up.

After the appropriate reports are filed, the case would be presented to the prosecutors office and if all the elements of the violation have been established, the case would be filed and an arrest warrant issued.

Because the "suspect", now defendant, is a government employee, she can be easily found and arrested, right there in her office. She'll be transported to jail, booked, fingerprinted and processed, before being released on bond.

To paraphrase Sir Winston Churchill... this is not the end... it is not the beginning of the end... it is the end of the beginning...

A court date will be set and the "victim" summoned. Prosecution testimony will be heard, describing the events which created the violation.

A defense will be presented.

Ultimately, the judge presiding over the case will determine if ALL of the elements of the offense have been met. If the court finds that the defendant is Guilty, a penalty will be imposed, most likely forfeiture of posted bail.

Of course, a hue and cry will arise, rightfully decrying the waste of precious public funds on such a minor offense, paticularly when murderers, robbers and rapists roam society.

On the other hand, we could accept the apology and move on

For a name like Bright Ideas, well.....

"stop Jewing around"- Real Classy!

"Try stationing a spy with binocs and a cell phone to catch the taggers. Use your imagination."- You are an idiot. I am not the biggest fan of the Estate, but c'mon.

Help Wanted: Need one good maka, and one good finger to dial cell phone that will work in Kakaako vicinity, need to have good judgement, strong communication skills, patience and a soft voice. A lawn chair and cooler can't hurt. Must have clean record and no associates who "tag" vacated buildings. Not hiring off-duty cops at this time. Many benefits to include: time for star gazing, watching trollies roll by on Ala Moana Blvd and being employed by the most imaginative organization in Hawaii, The Bishop Estate. EO employer, even for Bright Ideas.

If Kam (Bishop Estate) really cared about their mandate of taking care of people of Hawaiian ancestry, they would spend ther money to build and run a world class child care center for all the people with kids who work in downtown. What better way to promote a proactive program to care for children and family of Hawaiian blood?

Ummmmm.. dude. thats kinda funny. just in case you were not aware, the entire national chain of CompUSA stores filed bankruptcy and closed about 3 months agao. the STUPID ironic thing is that the location on Ala Moana was the most profitable in the entire chain. i think they had 130 stores nation wide ?

Thanks Dude, I did not know it was nationwide. That sucked for Hawaii. I never heard about the 300+ employees that lost out on their jobs. Maybe that's who's tagging!

I like that idea ! The Governor has been trying to find a new location for Next Step shelter to move to... at the various town board meetings the people always cry out "NIMBY !!!"

The CompUSA Site is just across the street from the current shelter, and it has a much newer facility (utilities, suffecient power, easy access and a good sized store room for supplies.)

plus as it has offices and classrooms already. It may be the absolute perfect fit !
