Full story: Honolulu Star-Bulletin

At about 5 a.m. Wednesday, people will say prayers and beat pahu drums at a state Capitol vigil; several churches will also ring their bells at 5 a.m. That is when native Hawaiians' attention will be drawn to ...

why is it that the lt governor is quiet on this issue, how can he let lingle show to the public that she is not educated regarding the Crown lands. when she ran for mayor on Maui years ago , she "forgot" to tell the voters, that because of the deal she made with united and american airlines, that she would take land and close back roads to Kahului airport, to extend the runway for larger air craft to land there!

I'm going to have a vigil starting at 4 AM Wednesday. I'll be praying that the Supreme Court does exactly what Apoliona is afraid they will do -- bring the 14th Amendment to bear, and focus like a laser beam on the whole sorry mess; abolish OHA as a state agency (the racists can have a private club with no government money); order the Homeland leases to be converted to fee simple and DHHL to be abolished (ever hear of "neighborhood boards"?); make clear the ceded lands belong to all Hawaii's people without racial distinction.

nothing is owed these so-called natives. All public lands are to be used to support public services for all regardless of race, ethnicity or culture. That is the way the monarchs wanted it.

For the past 30 years, if OHA had used the 5(f) money for the purpose the State and Feds agreed to in the Admission Act of 1959, that is, to help the native hawaiians and the Hawaiian homes program, I would have more sympathy for OHA.

But OHA's arrogance, insolence and outright mis-spending and stealing the 5(f) monies from the native hawaiians, has not earned any sympathy here. In fact, just the opposite.

I really hope that the State's OHA (remember now, folks, the State invented OHA in 1978) loses its 1978 made-up definition of a mini-maole "Hawaiian" (1/64th or 1.562%) and their soon to be former ability to misuse of the 5(f) money to fund, among other useless things, fascist marches.

The whole sordid attempt to graphed onto the United States Hawaiian homes program, a vestigial tail of the whole sorry (1893, blah, blah, blah,) Monarcy b.s.,

AND

OHA using our 5(f) money to try and accomplish that via the kukae Akaka bill, while talking stink about the U.S. too, as earned OHA, their followers, as well as the illiterate (that cannot read plain 5(f) language,) the opportunity to get their butts kicked by the U.S. Supreme Court.

I can only hope that the U.S. Solicitors successful petition to address the U.S. Supreme Court regarding "federal interests" has something to do with the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act, 1920, the federal-state compact of Section 4 of the Admission Act, 1959, and the funding mechanism in Section 5(f), that the State is now giving to OHA to alternatively hoard, squander and spend on themselves and those who cater to the mini-maole and the whole "Alii worship" complex.

Down with OHA.

Actually, that's the way the white folks wanted it. Do you really believe the monarchy thought Hawaii would not be governed by a Hawaiian? It would be like saying that the Chinese government would one day invite and be ruled by a parliament of Japanese or Slovakians. I don't think so.

THIS IS WHAT CONKLIN POSTED IN THE OTHER PAPER WHEN A CHILD ABUSER WAS SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS:
"I forgot to mention: When they put Rita Makekau and Hyacinth in the same prison cell, they won't need to wear those black and white striped uniforms. Let them wear their Kau Inoa T-shirts. It'll be a "fashion statement."

That has to be one of the most blantantly racist statements ever posted. Is he saying that Hawaiians who are trying to organize the people are child abusers? I think he showed his true colors with that post.

By the way, read his other posts this morning. Conklin seems to be supporting Djou for Congress. Way to go Charlie, you're really building some kind of organization.

Pray hard (to the devil) Ken. Unfortunately for you Mark Bennett never made the 14th amendment the issue. He only asked if the 1993 Apology Resolution prevented the state from selling ceded lands. I highly doubt you'll get what you're praying for.

Oh, it's the "blame the white folks" trick again, huh?

Kinda reminds me of the mini-maoles running Kam School that are mostly white (or asian) going around calling their fellow white people, "haole."

In your revisionist Hawaiian history class at UH Center for Made-Up Hawaiian History Studies, I bet they never told you how the haoles who came to Hawaii did not marry into the poor commoners who were left without land in the Mahele of 1848.

I bet they never told you that the greedy alii who got land in the Mahele of 1848, married the haoles (because they wanted to be "white folks") and that's why their descendants hardly get any Hawaiian blood today, huh?

And so, yes, it is ironic that white people masquerading as "Hawaiian" down at OHA and up at Kam School have the god-damned nerve to talk stink about "white folks."

Folks, we are witnessing the end game of our elder Democratic Party insiders as they lose any grasp they had on Hawaii's resources to enrich themselves. These old hacks could not get it done and now they are being relegated to the dustbin of History. They tried, they failed. Why? Because like any good politician, they put their own self interest ahead of the interest of those they said they were going to serve. Time to move on and it's good that Lingle has the good sense to do so. Put these fake "Natives" out to pasture on the big island.

In my opinion the U.S. Supreme Court will probably ask OHA and the State the following question:

Whose rights and benefits are you protecting and why?

OHA's probable response: "OHA is protecting the rights, benefits and claims of native Hawaiians guaranteed by the U.S. Apology Resolution of 1993 because all ceded lands belong to the rightful owners - the native Hawaiians."

State's probable response: "State is protecting the sovereign rights, benefits and entitlements guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution, Hawaii Constitution, Statehood Admission Act of 1959 for the citizens of Hawaii, including but not limited to, native Hawaiian citizens, regardless of race, color, creed, national origin, gender, economic background or status."

Hawai'i Resident summed up the riddle very concisely. I apologise for treating such an important matter in a cavilier fashion. I feel that native Hawai'ians have been given a very raw deal. It's more than time to settle the books , make restitution for the takeover of the kingdom, and get on with new business. When I say business I mean a community where Hawai'i can become a more perfect place to live the pursuit of happiness, however you define that. Clawing at old wounds benefits no one but cheap orators and bs politicians.

Conklin reminds me of KKK. So much hate for people of color. This has happened to the Aborigines of Australia, the Maoris, the Native American and any peaceful tribes who have trusted others of the human race. So what is the common denominator here? It's usually the fair skin that reek this disgraceful practice.

What's upsetting about the sovereignty movement is the seemingly endless squabbling among an infinite number of groups, organizations, individuals, etc. all claiming to be either the heir apparent, the leader of the Hawaiian people. Then there is the raging debate among the Hawaiians themselves as to who among them is truly Hawaiian. To outsiders, the lack of unity is confusing and discouraging. The internecine warfare and slaughters, the exploitations (as for sandalwood profits), followed by intermarriage with mainlanders and the selling/distribution of land make for a complicated situation. The oddest thing is the constant refrain that those you disagree with ought to go back to the mainland; following this logic, except for an extremely small number of people, everybody's heritage is suspect and most should depart to leave the islands in the hands of very few people who can claim to be 100% Hawaiian. The debate over percentages of Hawaiian blood and the relative benefits one should enjoy because of that really upsets people; when other races do that there is universal condemnation.
