Hopefully these animals will be tried in Waterbury where the only real justice they deserve--the death sentence-will be sought. Unfortunately the States Attorney in New Haven is not one to seek this sentence. God have mercy on this family. A nicer group of people are hard to be found anywhere.

My lord, what is this world coming to? I feel so bad for this family and all the people in the world. We can't even be safe in our own homes.

I hope these two pieces of crap are burned and brutally raped and beaten just as they did to these people. I cannot believe these people did this and were more than smug about it. Doing this for hours. What a disgrace to be from CT right now, I'm sad, hurt and angry and I don't even know this family. God Bless you all - god bless you all.

My daughter woke me in Maryland this morning and told me to get on the Courant's site... "He was your Doctor, wasn't he?" she asked.
This is the most alarming news I have ever received from Connecticut (we expect violence down here in the DC Metro... but Connecticut? Cheshire?)... I am deeply sorrowful for Dr. Petit and his family. He was a doctor I missed terribly since moving down here six years ago... and to have this happen to such a wonderful and dedicated man is unthinkable.
My son called me from Chicago an hour or so later... "He was your Doctor, wasn't he?" he asked.

Although the death penalty is not a deterrent to crime, I believe it should be used in this case. Life in prison is not enough punishment.

Was really hoping S.A. charges weren't going to be filed. Absolutely horrific. They probably didn't release the vermins name right away to give their families time to get out of dodge. These two need to be disposed of in a speedy and tortuous manner, lethal injection would be too easy. They don't even deserve a trial. It's a cut and dry case against them. Heinous.

I really think I'm going to cry. These two need to be executed and sent to burn in their own hell!

What an awful crime. It literally made me sick to hear of this. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Petit. I can't imagine what he has been through and how much he has lost. May you have the strength to carry forward.

It's Horne Ave, not Horn Ave.

I had to read over the charges twice to make sure but they weren't charged with first degree murder?? Can they add this one later? Is anyone here in a legal profession to clarify this?

I know that CT is not prone to using the death penalty. However, if this case does not qualify I don't know what might. Both these men should be guilty of Cap Murder and thus face the harshest penalty the state can offer. My condolences to all those the family leaves behind and my heartfelt sympathy to the father.

The fact that several posts are thrilled about the fact that the perpetrators weren't minority members reveals their own personally held racism and race antagonism. You, black or white, are part of the problem in this society. As to the perpetrators themselves, getting the death penalty in CT does not necessarily mean these two will ever be put to death. Remember the insurance salesman only died because he insisted upon it himself, otherwise he'd still be in the news today. The liberal society today reaps what it sows.

If you don't believe in the death penalty in this case than you are as crazy as these killers. We NEED to start taking these monsters off this earth...for good.
Why would anyone on the face of this planet be concerned about what color their skin is. Scum is SCUM...I've seen it in white & black. Who cares. They should be hung in the center of Cheshire in front of the townspeople.
