Secondly, first time(and last)time I entered a Starbucks and asked for a med. regular coffee took the person behind the counter five minutes to figure out what a regular coffee was. Ok, Ok, I jest a little but, Starbucks is a little like that creamy donut place that opened with so much fanfare in Newington while back. With the economy going down the tubes or riding in a hand basket to you-know-where just a matter of time until more buck-a-drop coffee joints close.
Krispy Kreme! When it opened traffic was literally backed up for hours on the turnpike, and just about a week later you could drive by and not see a single car in the parking lot. Maybe people are smarter than we give them credit for. You eat more than one of those suckers in a sitting and you may as well be signing away your life.

This is a victory for the school spending advocates. Remember their mantra? "If you just give up one Starbucks double frapple mocha every day, you can afford the property tax hike!"

The one on Weathersfield Avenue (Hartford) needed to close. No one in the area could afford to buy the coffee there. And the shop was too far from the highway to attract anyone. It was a poor location to start, with not enough market research done to see if the people would even bite.

I am not surprised.

I grind my own beans at Big Y and make my own coffee at home for mere cents a cup.

I love to see the beautiful people paying several dollars each day for a cup of coffee.

(conservatively $4 X 5 X 4 X 12 = 1K per year!) I love it! A thousand dollars a year on coffee. Great!

It means I'll be able to retire long before the beautiful people can!

Drink up! I love it!

1.5M in savings all ready! And I still have 10-15 years until retirement!

I'm thinking about buying an island!

It was hopeless to put a Starbucks in a white trash town like east windsor anyway... although it was a nice one. Its-A-Grind has really good coffee too, but it's location kinda sux... has a sidewalk for a patio in a crummy run down plaza. Would be great if they could take over the Starbucks building with that nice patio.

SIG Big Y coffee is crap. You probably have to put milk & sugar in it don't you? You don't have to spend a lot for coffee, but it shouldn't be $hit either. Cheap coffee is acidic because it's picked before ripe. The acid is really bad for your stomach so you might have a ulcer before retiring on that island.

A really good cheap coffee actually is the $3.50 a pound Java Time coffee at Job Lot. It's cheaper then Big Y coffee and much higher quality... almost as good as Starbucks. My little secret. Don't by it all.

I guess you didn't pass grammar either because it's "it's" not "its." It's = it is.

Their coffee is overpriced and there's too much crap to go through to order it. Plus, they don't have donuts or anything good to eat. Give me good ole DD's coffee and a donut or bagal. Starsucks is for all the Yuppie types trying to impress everyone with their overpriced cup of coffee.

Americans just don't get it. Overspending, overeating, overindulging, overexcess everything. The me-me-me society has finally caught up with itself and become the spoiled brat it was all along.
I agree about trying to order a cup of regular coffee at a Starsucks. After 10 minutes of trying to get through to the person behind the counter, I threw up my hands in disgust and walked out without buying anything.

For what it's worth what I enjoy is getting a few Dunkin Donuts then goin to Starbucks and getting a GOD cup of joe. At Dunkin they butcher the cup in my opinion. But the food at Star is crummy, I love to wash down my Entenmans coffee cake with a nice bold cup of Bucks

3 Starbucks within 1 mile in Manchester mall area is overkill. I could see the need to trim one..
Actually, I think there are four within the Buckland corridor...1) Deming Road (the newest one), 2)IN Border's Books, 3) Evergreen Walk and 4) The Plaza at Buckland Hills. Four Starbucks within three miles of one another.

Starbucks oversaturated the market...not only was it competing with McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, etc, it was taking business away from itself. Look at Rte. 83 in Vernon...there is a Walgreens or CVS on every corner... Eventually, all it means is another empty store.

And, I thought Starbucks was "selective" in where stores were located...towns had to meet certain "criteria" for a Starbucks to be located there.
