Nope, I can walk, talk, sing and dance, pretty sure I'm not the one in the wheelchair or licking the windows on the short bus.

Any other outdated sociology models you want to crap out today? You can't deal with stairs, I can't pop wheelies in a wheelchair. So do can I sue for that?

I think all Humboldt County companies should file a order of restraint against Singleton and anyone who has filed a lawsuit with him or any other ADA abuse lawyers. If he can not fuel his car, buy food, watch a movie, or go anywhere, maybe he will move out of this area.

I'd love to know who Marcy J. Velasquez is....I believe her name pops up as "plaintiff" on other ADA cases. If she's in cahoots with the shyster, he photo should be posted for all business people to beware. She is pathetic to use her disability.
Great thought, who is she? It seems their are a few names in common looking at that list privided earlier under adacrisis.com .

Whacked out, did you read Jack's post? He was sued by Mr Altruistic, one cause mentioned was sinks ONE INCH too high. Hmm, seems to carry my point. Of course, brown shirted activists that are carrying the water for a bad law will ignore any facts that disagree with their opinion. And since you accused me of attacking you without addressing my point I thought i would go ahead and let you know my true feelings towards you.
I have absolutely NO problems with guidelines to assist the Disabled. And I think a restaurant or other consumer business that cuts out a possible customer base is stupid. Accordingto several posts here the business did what it could. What's the permit cost here for an ADA retro? I'll bet it isn't cheap. And ADA approved stuff is charged at a premium. Everyone knows that your over a barrel when ADA is mentioned and they don't try to help. They treat you as a free dinner.
The problem is that it was made an unyeilding law that has destroyed many Mom and Pop's like the Eureka Arctic Circle. And it causes people to form into camps that they normally would not be in. ADA focused on the wheelchair brigade against the world, not on helping the brigade participate, but on forcing everyone else to cater to them. And that has caused problems ever since.
BTW, ADA was initially for the wheelchair bound, seriously, they expanded it after the fact.

Why should businesses be forced to provide restrooms? It's just a potential lawsuit. And unless we want to be good little fascists, we can't have gov't force the business to provide restrooms.
Here's an odd thought, do skateboard shops have to be ADA compliant? I mean, by definition the product they sell is not going to be used by those with mobility issues.
The simple answer is yes.
The parent or guardian of the skater may be in a wheelchair or disabled in some way.

Just for information (it's public record and public information, so don't even begin to come at me), the "victim" actually lives in Rio Dell and has been heard saying she won't go after the gas station down there because she knows the employees and likes them. Proof that these are personal, greed-based extortions against local business because her disability apparently doesn't pay her enough to "live the highlife" in glamorous downtown Rio Dell.

ADA- everyday, in my wheelchair, I fight tougher battles than you will in your entire pathetic hate-ridden life.

You are a disgusting excuse for a human, and obviously a COWARD.

If you are not, then post your REAL name and lets get together for a chat, o.k.?

What do you have to be afraid of- I'm just a useless 'gimp' right?

Some of the post/comments have left the issue, you think?

We should be working together towards a common goal of reasonable accommodation for all, not calling each other names or threatening each other. Doing away with the need of these kinds of lawsuits.

We all have issues that differ, but we also have more in common.

Skippy56-

You are of course absolutely correct, its just sooo hard to hold ones tongue when vermin such as 'ADA' post the kinds of bile that they do.

But I do apologize for getting personal, and, as Rosalyn Carter brilliantly said:

"There are only four kinds of people in this world:

Those who have been caregivers
Those who currently are caregivers
Those who will be caregivers
Those who will need caregivers".

So someday, this person, and people like him,
WILL get the point.

One way or the other, they WILL.

Now do you understand why we feel marginalized?
No one want to look at a disabled person.
They don't want to stop for you in the crosswalk.
They do not want to accommodate your wheelchair or walker.
They do not want to accommodate your service animal.
When your civil rights are violated time and time again you are forced to take the only action available, and that is a law suit.
I for one am proud that this one woman will stand up for the rest of the disabled people that are to scared of retribution to speak out.

Now if you don't mind, I'm going to hop into my car and drive 50 feet to get my mail at my mailbox because well, walking is overrated.

Passage of the Federal-Aid Highway Act authorizes federal funds to provide for construction of curb cuts.
Passage of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 marks the greatest achievement of the disability rights movement. The act -- particularly Title V and, especially, Section 504 for the first time, confronts discrimination against people with disabilities. Section 504 prohibits programs receiving federal funds from discriminating against "otherwise qualified handicapped" individuals and sparks the formation of "504 workshops" and numerous grassroots organizations. Disability rights activism seizes on the act as a powerful tool and make the signing of regulations to implement Section 504 a top priority. Litigation arising out of Section 504 will generate such central disability rights concepts as "reasonable modification," "reasonable accommodation," and "undue burden," which will form the framework for subsequent federal law, especially the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
The Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board is established under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to enforce the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968.
The Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities is organized to advocate for passage of what will become the Developmentally Disabled Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 1975 and the Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975.
WHATS WITH THE HISTORY LESSON? THIS IS ABOUT STUPID LAWSUITS AND SUE HAPPY PEOPLE!
