Don't worry.....there are too many stupid people who enjoy fighting over politics (as evidenced by the comments above.......they're all wanting their party to be the "winner").....to even consider socialized medicine. We already HAVE socialized medicine....it's called Medicaid and Medicare...... and as far as I know there is more freedom in choosing a doctor with those plans than exists if you are involved with an HMO. My understanding of HMOs is that an insurer searches around until they find a health care provider who has an empty.....or almost empty waiting room......and he agrees to "work for them." If you have coverage with this provider....you are then limited to the health care providers THEY identify..... If these are excellent providers it would seem they would not NEED to work for HMOs.... What is the difference between the level of care one receives from providers under HMOs, Medicaid providers and Medicare providers. I've had many people tell me the "quality" of care is similar.......... Medicaid IS paying for socialized medical care? Is this true? If this type of "quality" care is good for low income ....and we hear all of the time that it is....then why doesn't the rest of the nation want to receive care paid for by a similar plan?
