when you are part of a volunteer/charity organization always have 3 or more trusted people looking at the money... when only one person controls the finances trouble is brewing... after all, why does a little league need an atm card?

So let me get this straight, the Board has now put in place a series of "checks and balances" so that this kind of thing can't happen again. Did these people fall off the turnip truck or what ?

No single person, volunteer or paid, should have unrestricted access to funds. Wake up you fools, this is not Mayberry.

It may seem like hindsight but spend a little bit of money to bond the Treasurer of your volunteer organization through your insurance carrier. Have a CPA review your books at the same time as you do your taxes and have at least two signatures required on checks. The snack bar should be the major source of funding for many leagues especially when some players need financial assistance with their fees. Banks don't usually issue ATM cards when multiple signatures are required.(Also make sure that more than two folks can sign on the account so bills can be paid when someone is not available).

This women is lower than a dog so don't call her a female one. She needs to pay back all the money with a healthy amount of interest. I would take the plaques with her name on them and have her name blocked out as a reminder to all to be diligent in your organizations. Volunteers are donating their time but it should never be for their own gain. That includes the publicity hounds who always get their pictures in the newspapers.

Barbara you should be ashamed of yourself!!!

My husband and I go to work every day so that we can afford to provide for our son who played for TLL last year.

You didnt just steal from TLL, you stole from our kids and us parents.

Do not be surprised. This type of theft has happened in other little leagues and sports organizations throughout the LA area. The LA City Parks Department staff can tell you that this type of thing has happened with a few of the groups that use their fields.

In addition, I believe your usage of the "ellipsis" in the above sentence in incorrect.

Remember, "innocent until proven guilty". And it sounds more like innocent.

I think all of the kids sports clubs should be looked into (AYSO, TABB, Pop Warner, etc). It seems that that numbers never add when it comes to funds for the kids.

Yes of course we should all listen to guy poulin! He has told this story to so many people and in so many different ways...he's a real good source of info! maybe he should just concentrate on not using the little league as a party zone and stop drinking out there with all the others. Not saying this lady was right in taking money but guy should keep his mouth shut and stop trying to look so important!

Mistakes are human...she made a mistake! Slander is Vindictive, shame on the board for taking it there! This should have been a private matter and handled as such. This was a volunteer, a helpful, kind, volunteer, who loved the kids. How does this benefit the league by publicly humiliating her with Photo and all?

Since when is THEFT a "mistake"? "Oops, I accidentally took $1,500 from the little league to buy presents for myself and family....I thought I was taking it from my account." Come on, "Concerned Parent"....think! Pull your head out of the sand and realize this woman is a ****. She's already returned $44,000 to the little league....if she didn't STEAL it, why would she give it back?

its always the hardest working person in the office who is there first and leaves last and does every job. That is so they can be in control and avoid discovery. Cheers to the minimal performers as they seldom steal from the employer !

People make mistakes. There are many Torrance parents with no class and dignity. Why don't all you F**** just rat each other out on every mistake you ever made in life. It's the same old story in East Torrance. Everyone talking behind each others back.

Well, see....she is a Law Enforcement Officer and we just don't understand the "stress" of the job. It makes the police in Torrance and other agencies sexually assault women that are pulled over for a ticket, drunk drive/file false reports and now; steal from a little league group. Come on people, give LE a break. You are not out their like LE, getting paid big bucks to take two hour lunches and hide behind buildings in your patrol unit "Doing Paperwork". ahahahahahaha This chick is white trailer trash. But, don't let the DA of Redondo Beach decide charges, none will be filed.

Why do you have to insert politics into a serious situation where it has no place? Please don't show your ignorance.
