Call the police if you see drunken drive. Don't just let them get into a car a drive.

This piece of detritus, Aguayo, should be sentenced to death immediately. Dont waste our tax money on a long drwan out trial and years in prison.

He has taken away a father and potentially a mother from these two young kids. Aguayo deserves no place on this earth.

Ismael was our gardner and a dear family friend. Just last week, Ismael's wife Maria brought my sister food because she wasn't feeling well. That's the kind of people they are- Hardworking, loyal, honest and caring.

Ismael had a wonderful beaming smile; he was always happy, always helpful and worked so very hard to care for his family. This was a very close knit family that did everything together and I am utterly heartbroken for Maria and the children.

Godspeed Maria; I pray with all of my heart that you and Veronica recover both emotionally and physically. And to our dear sweet Ismael- You will really be missed...

Why is it the useless excuses for human beings who cause these types of deaths are never killed themselves, instead the innocent victims pays the price.

This guy needs to spend alot of time in jail and if he is here illegally send him packing south of the border. You know when he gets out he will do the same thing all over again.

They DID call the police. Read the story again. they did what they could to stop him.

What is also unfortunate is that if they HAD used force to stop him, they risked assault, if he had a weapon even worse, or a lawsuit for harassing him. No matter how you look at it, someone else was going to pay for him being drunk and stupid. His kind always pass the buck.

I think it is time to look at changing the way people are punished. "An eye for an eye" seems to deter crime. Or maybe bring back the chain gangs. Get some of the highways repaired by these morons. Then use the money saved for EDUCATION so that the next generation is not so inclined to committing these acts of complete stupidity.

i agree.. Not much they could have done even if they sold him the booze. You cant hold anyone against there will.
I used to work a door for a downtown bar and people would drive off all the time and not give a damn. The DUI laws are a joke and why care because the most he will get is what a year with no driving. They need to change the law and make it murder.

The account of how he hit them still does not make sense. Me and a friend were on scene almost immediately and the driver who swerved and went into the ditch flagged us down. He said he was driving in his lane and he swerved to miss him and was forced off of the road. Then he said, "I have no idea what happened to the car behind me."
The truck ended up at least 50-100 feet NORTH of the Tercel which was facing northbound in the southbound lane with the drivers front end clearly taking the brunt of the impact. How was he going southbound after making a U-turn? Impossible from what I saw there.

Sad to see the mother's been downgraded to critical but good to see the 6 year old is upgraded to fair. Also if the bar called the police then where were they? why did it take so long for EMS to arrive on scene AND fire was first with CHP showing up right after them.

Totally agree. I just wish that at some point we as a society are not going to tolerate drunk drivers, and apply the harshest possible sentence for FIRST time offenders. This irresponsible piece of pond scum has destroyed what sounds like a beautiful family. We need to try harder at detering this type of behavior with harsher sentences for first timers....and no, I am under no illusion that it will eliminate all drunk drivers, but if it saves one more family from this hell they are in, then it will be worth it.

As soon as this case goes to court, the community needs to rally around the family and act as an advocate for the victim to ensure this guy does not get off like the drunken driver who killed Amit Tandon. 180 days in jail is no punishment for taking the life of a loving husband and father.

The Er has the story wrong again... no surprise.. The truck was traveling north on 99 and veered into the south lane. It first struck a Mitsubishi then the toyota head on. The truck was not making a u-turn. Figure it out ER.. you morons.

First of all Centerfolds is the most disgusting WHITE TRASH place in town and for them to let him even sit in his car is ridiculous they should have just called the cops if he tryed to molest a dancer and was that intoxicated!!! They should feel responisble i know both there daughters and they are great smart sweet kids and there lives have been forever and im sickened by Fabian Aguayo but also by the club

Dave, sometimes the details of accidents get all twisted up. I'd trust what you saw and don't stress over differing accounts in the paper.

As for your question about where were the police? Well, the club called them and the accident happened within a few minutes. So unless you are suggesting that the police should have anticipated the call in advance and been arriving on scene when the call was made... where do you think they were? Be real, don't even start questioning.

Realist-
Just trying to get the facts straight...it's what a newspaper should strive to do and I agree the concern of course is with the poor family that lost their father.

Regarding the CHP, I am simply stating that they sure took a long time show up knowing they should have been in the area looking for a drunk driver. I question whether the club employees actually called them? I know people overestimate time frames in these scenarios but it was probably at least 15 minutes before fire arrived after the first call and CHP showed up AFTER that. I'm not denigrating the fire, police or CHP's response time except to point out that it's hard to believe a call was made by the bar staff.
