From a 24-year-old man who has no shame in admitting that he never misses midnight re-runs of The Golden Girls, this is positively saddening.

I always thought Sophia was the wittiest and Estelle was a perfect fit for the part. RIP.

May God bless her soul, she had been sick for a while and now she is at peace. I have fond memories of watching the Golden Girls with my grandmother and cousins and we would always say that we were going to all live together like them when we get old, my grandmother would always laugh at us and we never understood why.

A very sad day, although it is somewhat of a relief since she had been suffering for so long. What many people do not know is that in addition to being a wonderful comedic actress, Ms. Getty was a staunch supporter of people living with HIV. In fact, I believe she took in her nephew when he was ill and dying and she took care of him until he passed away.

I DVR all episodes every day and never miss a chance to watch. Ms. Getty will live forever on television and in the hearts of her fans.

Rest In Peace, Estelle, your memory will last a lifetime for many generations to come.

I stay up late just to watch reruns on lifetime every night, I'll be sure to catch them tonight as well.

I am so sad to hear of her passing, I love, love, love Golden Girls, watched it when it aired originally in the 80's, faithfully watched reruns all through college and since then as well. My husband laughs at my love of all things 80's but even he found Sophia to be absolutely hilarious. There is no doubt, she was the star of the show! And watching reruns now, you really realize how snarky and edgy some of her comebacks were considering we are talking about a time where the worst words uttered on primetime were "damn" and "hell"!
