Tomatoes are the least toxic thing McD has to worry about. It's unbelievable that they can get away with this mass poisoning, and equally amazing that people allow themselves to be fed this rot. Besides, weren't they just pictures of tomatoes their store managers cut out from magazines?

One would think that people will soon come to the realization that government regulation is all that stands between them and food poisoning.

Naaaaaaa...they aren't that smart. Just look at the ridiculously dismal state of healthcare in the US.

As long as conservative dogma reigns supreme, The United States will continue being no better than any other third-world country.

Jim -

It's called business savvy and I figure that if you think it's about greed, you aren't buying any of the product that they sell and never have. See? Some more business savvy!

McDonalds is doing the right thing... Choosing a long slow obesity and clogged artery death over a quick painful stomach bacteria death.

Quite to the contrary RamRod. I used to be employed by these people, so I know full well the extent McDonald's will go to wring the full profit out of anything and everything. My point is that somewhere in a meeting room a decision was made to pull tomatoes from the menu. I doubt it had anything to do with consumer safety and everything to do with the bottom line. In essence, I question their ethics.

We're talking McDonalds, right?? What part of breakfast do you feel they do "Well"???
The Egg McMuffin! The Sausage McMuffin with Egg! The hashbrowns!! They're all great.

I know they're not comparable to a meal at a sit down restaurant, but the breakfast at McDonald's rock!

And before people get all accusatory, I'm not overweight at all, but I still love McDonald's breakfast!

Hey Cubs Girl, Manimal is a Cubs Dog! His idea of fine cuisine is licking up vomit at Wrigley and washing it down with a dive in the urine troughs.

Jim -

Ahhh! Never mind. Yeh, that board room where cigar-smoking magnates conspire against the common little working man and looking to screw the customer and wring profits out of each health concern.

No, you're right. There's no longer any corporation that's above making any decision except how to elevate the numbers on their bottom line.

Tell me, Jim: If the bottom line is all that Micky D is about, why not eliminate the tomato and leave the price the same. THINK OF THE WINDFALL! WOOOO-HOOOO!

Exactly !! The people they get to work in the fields certainly have little or no education and certainly little or no hygiene techniques. In fact most of them probably are illegal immigrants who work cheap and don't care where they do their business. And you know how it is after a couple of big burritos !!
It is correct, but remember, growers and farmers are responsible for those people and the products they send to the market. If they have not good agricultural practices they will not request the field workers to do the right way...

I think this is about greed. McDonald's takes the opportunity to drop tomatoes from their sandwiches and their inventory, one of the most expensive things they carry. Have they dropped the price of their sandwiches that are supposed to have tomatoes on them? They look good trying to keep consumers safe, but really it's about money.
This is really the most common sense I have read here. Thanks some have brain....Just think about it. How much is Mc Donals saving ?
