If from what I read last week carroll county has 1.8 million left over from last years purse. Why do we need to raise taxes again? I also pay taxes to the city of carrollton and it just seems to me that the county is doing just fine with funds if we wouldn't spend our money on nonsense construction of the streets and roads that are not fixing a thing, but tearing them up and making them worse. Why do they need more money to put cameras in our schools? That is federal funding it has nothing to do with our local money from the county. Also the school systems get funding from the lottery as well. Multiple teachers have been put out of work and kids have been put with so many others in small classes due to so many cuts, but now we need to pay more for metal detectors in the school. We have more than enough cops that work in our small town, that have plenty of time to go do their personal shopping, and also to go and talk to friends and family through out the town while on duty. I have personal video of this case multipal time. I feel with them having so much time they can co and make my tax money useful and protect our kids. So I disagree with putting a levy on the ballot because it is not helping local county residents out it seems like its just a way for certain people in our county to put more money in their purse. We have a very old county and not much employment to support your nonsence taxes. If the taxes need to be raised the gas and oil companies need to be demanded to hire locals. End of story, the senior citezens need to be thought of in this day in age as well as the new families getting started in life.

no one likes more taxes however I feel we owe it to our youth to pass this levy. It has been years and years since there has been a school levy and people expect the schools to provide the best education and keep our children safe. The buildings are so old and there are not efficient. The schools cannot continue to operate without a levy. It appears we have a superintendent who cares and we have some excellent teachers. I think we owe it to the young people of the community to pass this levy.

What is an efficient building, Opinionated? Scores would seem to support that the academic results are being met in less than perfect physical surroundings. You now have a superintendent who is politically savvy enough to recognize a time to strike while the iron is hot. Strike an emotional chord with parents, and this levy just might have a chance of passing. Every superintendent before him has cared, but this one just happened to come along in a time of media saturation...facebook, twitter, and instant access to information about everything dark and dangerous around the world. All of this feeds what we see going on in schools around the nation at this moment.... The schools can and would continue to operate without a levy and your children would be getting the best education in a safe environment.

My kids are not attending Carrollton Schools. I already pay property taxes to Carrollton Schools every year. I vote NO NO NO on any new taxes. Cut the money wasted on hiring the man from Edison Local would be a great start to save money. Thiis school wasted money right there in buying this man.

I agree with Tax Payer Man. I am going to vote No as well. I have been paying Carrollton Village School taxes for the past 12 year I have lived here. All I have seen is wasted $$$ being spent on a man that left Edison Local for more $$$$. I have seen the school shove a new school down our throats. I have seen the kids being sent home as JR salesmen and women trying to sell us high dollar stuff. I have seen kids making threats at the school. What we need is leadership, paddles back in schools, and the teachers to stand-up and correct these kids. Randy Miller why do you just keep your thoughts to yourself, you sound like another person that always wrote letters to the editor that made no sense. I believe her name was Ann.

Raise taxes again? When did the last school levy pass? More than 30 years ago. The fact is, the buildings are garbage, they were pathetic when I graduated in 1987 and have not aged well since. The time is long past to replace them, the problem has always been getting people to pass a levy. the time is long past for the people of this county to step up and at least give the schools something for the first time in more than 30 years.

Tax Payer Man and Reader are correct. Carrollton Schools want money to build a new school and sport the football team. The heck with this.

One, this emergency levy will in no way build a new school or used to do so. Two, how would this money sport the football team. These are two pretty extreme statements. Don't worry though that our kids sit in rooms with buckets beside them when it rains because the roof is so old. Don't worry that our kids are in classrooms that are too small for that many students to be in because teachers are being cut. Don't worry that heating systems don't work properly in buildings so much that windows have to be open in some room and kids wearing coats in others during the winter. Don't worry that our parking lots are so bad you have to get your car realigned after driving threw them. The list could go on and on. Anything that our district has built new in the past 15 years has all been with donations by other community members (fine arts department,BHMS gym,Community field). You can only bandage the things so much before you can't do it anymore. There truly it's a question that our district needs new facilities, but this isn't what this levy is about. This levy is about making sure that we keep the "excellent" education level being given to our students and not making them make more sacrifices.

Watch out for Dr. Q.....

While he was the super at Edison, he got the BOE to hire "Levy Consultants" to the tune of $75,000....

What new school was shoved down your throat? Last time I checked, the newest school we have was built in 1955, but you have only been here 12 years. Kids sell stuff as fund raisers to help PTO'S purchase needed items for the schools and classrooms that the district doesn't have money to buy. Kids have made threats in school since school began. What we need is parents to do their jobs; discipline back in the home; so that teachers can do their jobs of TEACHING children. If you don't want to be part of the solution, that's fine. But stop being part of the problem!

Another soup sandwich.

What are they going to do with money from the oil leases? Why do we need a levy when they are going to be receiving all this money????

To start with, because the schools have not had any'new' money since 1977. Are you getting the same pay rate that you did in 1977?? There are two generations living in Carrollton that weren't breathing the last time a levy was passed.

Next, They might get money from their oil lease and they might not. They will not get money from anyone else's oil lease as that money is taxed as income. If property value goes up, the school won't get more money unless new levies are passed. I checked this out with the auditor. I encourage you to call him if you don't believe me.

Finally, no one wants to pay more taxes; however I don't mind taking my turn to support the children of this community like my parents and grandparents did. I don't agree with all they do, but there are certainly worse investments that we can make!

Reader, the school has been excellent in academics, an evaluation from the state, teaching the communities kids, so why did you fail to mention that, didn't go along with your theme, bash the school. My letters to the editor must have put a thorn in your side, maybe because what I write makes sense, common sense, in contradiction to your beliefs. If I see a misjustice I fell the obligation to speak, to set the record straight. You could write letters too.

RANDY MILLER has an I.Q. that is a negative number! Read his Letters and Posts for the last few years and you know he's in WHACKO-LA-LA-LAND. AND, he's teaching kids!!! HEY, RANDY, WHY DON'T YOU VOLUNTEER TO GO TO AFGHANISTAN??? STOP being a Chicken-Hawk! YOU are willing to send Carrollton kids to their deaths in Afghanistan---WHY don't you go yourself, Mr. Tough Guy (Not!)

Bob-non-Vietnam-war vet, Watch your slander. You might have your post taken off line again by the FPS.
At least I was a combat infantry soldier and know what I'm talking about. You weren't even in Vietnam, let alone in combat. That's according to your own past statements.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT? HA!!! Not from what I've seen in your previous posts. Does the Truth hurt? Were you ever in combat? If so, MAYBE you have a clue about where the intel. info came from about the enemy? Are you going to belittle the people who made sure the enemy movements and communications were captured? Why aren't you, Mr. Grunt, fighting in Afghanistan? I, and a bunch of my associates, were right across the South China Sea from Vietnam, providing military intelligence for the soldiers on the ground. If you don't think THAT is important, if you think we weren't a part---VERY IMPORTANT PART---of that war, you are really in LA-LA Land.

BTW, are you telling those kids in your JROTC class THE TRUTH about combat, the never-ending wars in the Middle-East, the SKY-HIGH suicide rate in our military, the sky-high divorce rate, the sky-high PTSD rate? ARE YOU? Or, are you giving them a complete line of bull? One of the greatest heroes in our country from WWII is Dwight Eisenhower. At the end of his presidency, he gave a speech in which he warned all Americans about the Military Industrial Complex--MIC. WHO is behind these never-ending wars? WHO is making mega-Billions from these wars? Was Halliburton ever held accountable for the Billions they made to disappear in Iraq? CHENEY was the former CEO of Halliburton, then became V.P. and Halliburton got Billions in UN-BID contracts for Iraq----hummmmm! SEE any connection there---and, Cheney got $34 million as a "going away present" when he left Halliburton. OH, and you and a boatload of Neo-Fascists won't admit that President Obama ordered the attack on Osama binLaden, NOT G.W. Bush. Bush family = super tight connections to the Saudi Royal family = binLaden family = Osama. But, of course, you don't get it. How about Daddy Bush handling over $3 Billion in military contracts with the Saudis? Are the Saudis "friend" of "foe?" Their funding of terrorism, INCLUDING the 9/11 hijackers (15 of the 19 were Saudi citizens), PROVES they are enemies!
