An industry that is unionized soon goes out of business or becomes ineffective.... Examples

Steel now made in china, Mexico - not USA

Autos.... Detroit, MI automakers are bankrupt (Union shop state) the otehr 6 states in the south - right to work states - are doing well making cars

Carlsbad FF - did not check fire hydrants for 3 years

Teachers. 50% drop out rate

Goverment: does anyone think government is efficient? Really

I'll be the first to agree that Unions can be corrupt and counter productive for business and employees alike. They have gone well beyond their original aim and intent.

BUT they have given us many things we all take for granted in the work place.
A 40 hour work week
Child labor laws
Company provided benefits
Safety standards for workers and workplaces

to name a few.......

You know we Republicans need to stop our belly aching and get busy. The people elected our opponent. But that guy is the President now. We are in a deep crisis and we really need to try and find some common ground. Write your representatives, get involved locally, do what you can. Let's try and be the Party of Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln again. The one that welcomed Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Women etc. I'm tired of all this bickering. It gains us nothing but bad press and dwindling ranks.

All good examples of the state of affairs in unionized industries in 2009....
in 1930's, unions did a good things for the orker... shorter work week, safety, etc, currently they are bloated dinosaurs

Unions, what have they done for you lately???

Are you getting value for your union dues?

the unions probably have outlived their usefullness. but it is not entirely their fault.
steel and automobiles are being made elsewhere, because of conditions other than wages.
some companies are realizing it is not entirely to their bennefit to outsource their product.
the internet company I was using had outsourced their service to india. when I called them to tell them I was leaving because I was tired of speaking to technicans that could barely speak english. the lady told me they had a lot of complants about that and had moved the tenical department back to the states that very day..

maybe all is not lost....

Unions have outlived their purpose. They have destroyed our industries by trying to extort money from companies and dictate how they run their business. It's organized crime. Period. Outlaw them.

unions aint worth a damn, when PCA laid off, 95 good workers the union didnt do anything to help them get there job back, and the union president was a alcoholic, who eventually lost his life to scerosis of the liver, when he went for a liver transplant in california, which was a god sent for not backing up the workers, let this be a lesson, that all bad deeds dont go unpunished before we leave this earth, uh huh.

Jimmie Hall was and honest, decent and honourable man.....i was there and he couldnt do anything about the layoffs but help those that kept there jobs to keep what they had....good wages and senority.....the layoff were by senority...not favoritism...otherwise there wouldnt be any hispanics or blacks working the mines....and yea.....you reap what you sow....but God doesnt punish people for what they do ...at least not yet.....Jimmie moved to california to get on the list quicker and lived with his parents.....lots of people drink for different reasons .....Jimmie served in Nam and had plenty of reasons to drink....especially fighting the unions battles and trying to keep lazy people employed.....its not the unions that make people lazy....its the poeple that are lazy and use the unions to get a way with it...if you got laid off in the '83 or 93 lay offs then it was because you didnt have enough whiskers to stay...

Fellows ist time for all of us to start to see America as the New America. What is all ready happening and what did happen its irreversible, not return, not a chance of hope for. Daddy Bush very crearly state : "Americans we are at the door of a new world order" his words. So, his son came after and the rest is history.
Now with mr,Obama not here to run.! Get ready people,we are follow the Canadian road map,or England,or The French.
With out factories,what?
God bless those unions for helping so much to move our factories to China,Bangladesh,Viet-nam( yes viet-nam) and very soon to Cuba what is left around here.
Now the Unions are goin to help to destroy local goverments around USA.
Oh boy, what a day was sugar today have turn in sour vinagre.
And if the things wont change soon may God run away from the Unions too.! O,Lord; have pity and mercy of the working class American people.!

Heather and Ron: Thank you for joining the roll call. The research I have done so far indicates that the average temp. in Ft. Lauderdale around the 5th of Dec. is 68 degrees. Down around Aruba, Cartagena, the Panama Canal and Puntarenas, Cost Rica the temps avg. around mid to upper 80's and humidity is 70-80%. So we'll all need to dress comfortably and have lots of sunscreen available. Welcome again.
