It's wasted space and an abandoned building is an eye-sore and unattractive to tourists and potential business prospects. I would tear it down and build a health food store or a doughnut shop :)
It's not abandoned. It's just not open. It's very well maintained. All of the ads for the movies that are currently showing at the drive-in are posted. He is a very conscientious business person. He has all the plans to re-model the walk-in. Check out the website. www.caverntheater.com

Brad seems to be a nice person, I'm sure he has his bad and good side, but don't we all. I just remember the Cavern Theater in the past and I know Brad has mentioned it coming back to life back years ago. But, just curious when. To many of the good times and things here in Carlsbad are now gone, and we did not have to leave town to go and have fun.
I know Brad has the money to make it a wonderful building, and maybe if I had his money, I would be buying a monster truck and maybe two H1's. He he

I have a lot of fond memories of the Cavern Theater also. Would sure hate to see it go. So many other buildings and attractions that made Carlsbad special succumbed to "progress" ie: Presidents Park, the rides at the beach, the diving tower and ski jumps in the river, the drug store soda fountains.

Again I dont know and in this case I cant complain... the Drive in is nice new and back to what it should of been all along.

I only hope he can do the same with the Old Cavern movie theater. And I'd be willing to assist with the asbestos issues should that be needed.

Wait a few months... Rent the DVD.$4 bucks and you get a dollar back if you take it back the next day.(Hasting's) That's how I solved the problem of rising theater prices.
On the upside.. It gives you time to look on IMDB.com and see if there are any scenes you might find offensive for your children. I don't know about anyone else but PG and G doesn't mean the same as it did in the 80's.
