Proposition 13 does not need to be tweaked. It needs to be abolished, and California needs to return to treating all its property owners as if they were created EQUAL! No grandfathering, no privileges for old companies, no surcharges (100%, 200%, 300%, more) on newcomers.

Just get rid of it. It can't be fixed. It can't be tweaked. It is wrong. Just plain wrong.

It is unjust, treating different people differently based on factors beyond their control.

It also is unwise: it forces towns and cities into taxing things that smart towns and cities and states don't tax (like sales and wages), and inviting businesses that harm the community, because they promise to provide badly needed revenue.

Smart communities don't do things like Prop 13. Unfortunately, California has tied its communities' hands. Were there a local option, a few smart towns would lead the way, and soon Prop 13 would be dead.

Prop 13 is a compact with the devil!

Just end it. ASAP. And watch California return to its former glory. California can be a fine place for all its residents; today it is not, and while ending Proposition 13 won't alone solve all the problems, NONE of them can be solved with it in place. Plain and simple!

And if you can't end it everywhere, get local option and do it locally. Think globally, act locally. But think!!!

Hey lvtfan how many senior citizens do you think would be forced out of their homes if Prop.13 were eliminated. The state should abolish the blood sucking California Correctional Peace Officers Union instead. They are far more corrupt and immoral than any corporation in the entire state.

What a surprise to see another carpetbagging Northeasterner demanding more taxation. This vile vermin would throw your mother and father out of the family home they have had for 200 years because his lowness doesn't think it's fair. Connecticut is a state loaded with crooked creepy so-called lawyers who would do anything to get what you have.
