Yes. Childrens Services kept complaints about Ayres quiet for years. We hope that the San Mateo Grand Jury investigates these cover ups.

Frequently agencies that are designed to protect kids do the worst job at watching out for them.

Perhaps Dr. Ayres will plea bargain, as Cardell Brown did. I believe he knows that if there is a trial that he will be convicted. Either way, he will pay.

If Dr. Ayres plea bargains to 50 years instead of 100 he will still croak in prison. He is overweight, walks with a cane, 75 or 76, he is half way to the grave. This all came about to late.

Jane Doe- thanks for your insights. You have been helpful with your knowledge of Dr. Ayres. How do you know so much about him ? Are you a neighbor ? Or the parent of a victim ? You don't have to say if you don't want to but for those of us who don't live in San Mateo, you have given us good updates.
As for coming about too late - well better late than never. Ever since the victim filed the lawsuit against Ayres in 2003, his life has been a living hell. All the publicity for that lawsuit resulted in a new criminal investigation.

I have lived in the Hillsborough/Burlingame community all my life. We had a doctor as a neighbor. I began to study how screwed up doctors were. People have a glorified view of them never seeing they are human as well. Although those that become psychiatrists are more screwed up than most. The Peninsula Psychiatric Associates first caught my attention when Dr. Weiner was helping a man get off from a crime after he stabbed someone and Dr. Weiner was hired to say he had a mental disorder. I knew his testimony could be bought. I also would drive by the so-called headquarters for the Peninsula Psychiatric Associates and see the weekly meetings they had, Ayres, Leith, Cerruti, Bryant, Hoffman, Weiner all would park outside. I also check the public records knowing that Ayres paid 96,000 for his Hillsborough home a long time ago, sold it for 2.5M. Have seen him eating at Kinkaid's, Il Fornaio was his favorite, talking to people outside Starbuck's on Burlingame Avenue. His eating habits are what have put his Santa Claus belly on. For someone with so much control over his mind he is a compulsive eater. I have not seen his burgundy BMW around at all lately, perhaps it is broken down and he cannot fix it (no money). I did see Etta Bryant M.D. parked out in front of his condo, she drives a bronze Mazda Mini Van, she is his biggest fan. I am not a victim or related to anyone who was. But I find it very disturbing that the entire medical community acts shocked by the allegations. Like when Sue Malone Executive Director of the San Mateo County Medical Society says we are so shocked. These medical societies are cover-up clubs for "bad" doctors. Claiming they will do a peer review, it is confidential because they never NEVER do anything. Burlingame/Hillsborough is a very small community not much can get past the residents here.

It is clear that Ayres could not control his appetite for young boys either.

We know Etta Bryant is a fan because she wrote a letter to the County Times two years ago defending his "physicals." I am told she is an easily influenced person who can be dominated. I also know that a mother of an Ayres victim who was a patient of Bryant's told Bryant Ayres had molested her son. Apparently Bryant dithered about whether to go to the police. Guess she didn't... and is still Ayres' ally. Very sad.

All of his partners knew he was disrobing boys and did nothing ? What's up with that ? There isn't a single child psychiatrist in America who does such a thing. My guess is that these partners might be sued too in these new lawsuits against Ayres.
And a little birdy told me that the San Mateo Grand Jury may be looking into possible coverups by various agencies after kids came forward and said they were molested. These are the agencies who did nothing !

Ayres' defender Dr. Etta Bryant seemed to be of the "thus is all just a big misunderstanding because full-body physical exams are a normal part of psychiatric treatment" school of thought.
She wrote a letter to the Times in 2006 saying how wonderful and innocent he was, and what a shame that his perfectly normal "physcial exams" had been misconstrued.
I wonder if Dr. Bryant still believes he's innocent now.
Did Dr. Bryant do full-body nude physicals on HER patients? Nad only on one gender (Ayres wasn't interested in girls. He likey the little boys) did she keep records of the exams in the patients' files (Ayres apparently did not) and contradict himself when asked to explain the reason for and frequency of the "exams"?
Can Dr. Byrant justify the penis-fondling and even an apparent rectal exam given by Ayres to one of his young patients? Does she really think that all this was totally innocent and completely justified by the standards of treatment in child psychiatry then or now?

Etta Bryant should call it a day and retire. She is old! The medical group disbanded and she has most likely lost assets of losing the corporation that once was PPA. Piero Cerruti retired and lives on the coast in pumpkin town - El Granada/Half Moon Bay. He doesn't defend the physicals. Ronnie Sue Leith who by the way is one ugly duckling trains dogs. Etta Bryant is clearly warped if she defends an exam on a childs genitals if they have ears that protrude! I do not think victims should be forced into confidential settlements - this is the very reason so many others can be harmed. Ayres choses to live at 153 No. San Mateo Drive, his old office is 215 No. San Mateo Drive it seems that of all the places he could rent he choses to be close to his crime scene, sicko. His landlord lives in San Jose a 1/2 hour drive and I wonder if they even know who is renting the condo - a sexual offender.

Jane Doe - You are right about Ayres choosing to live near his crime scene. He used to live in Hillsborough but then in 2006 left his office in San Mateo Drive ( though he still had a few patients and was doing consulting work at the time the police raided his condo) I too was struck by the fact that he chose to live near his crime scene.

I wonder if he videotaped his assaults on the boys and has them secretly stashed away somewhere at another storage space that the cops don't know about. Bet you he has another computer somewhere too.

Also Dr. Sam Levitt and his wife Thea defend Ayres.Dr. Levitt was a pediatrician who sent kids to Ayres. A father asked Levitt if it was normal for Ayres to be giving physicals to his sons and he said that Levitt just changed the subject. How could he not see that this was terribly wrong ? And how many other boys came forward to other doctors to say this had happened to them ? How many came forward to Hillcrest and Childrens Services and San Mateo County Mental Health ?

If the case of Dr. Ayres in on target the trial begins on March 10, 2008. Not much longer until justice will prevail. Ayres did not win the motion to suppress evidence such as the search of his medical records for victims. He is going to lose the case and go to jail. His wife Solveig his door mat left to fend for herself. She has been under his control for years.

Yes, Solveig has been his doormat for years. One wonders why... for the prestige of being married to a doctor ? Now look where it's gotten her. He can't show his face at national psychiatric meetings. They all know what he did. It's the talk of the psychiatric community.

Ayres will lose the case. Some wonder if he may just plead guilty rather than have to listen to the parade of over 40 victims tell their horror stories.

He should have been arrested years ago for this.

Never see Ayres children at all or hear of them. For years I have only seen him driving Solveig around never a guest, never with another couple and no children. I do not know where they live but perhaps it is a terrible stigma to have a father accused of child molestation. I would probably put a paper bag over my head.

Jane Doe - Ayres got his trial postponed until June again. His lawyer says he has prostate cancer and will be too ill from treatments to attend daily trial. But a mother of a victim not long ago saw him at the San Francisco Symphony.
If you see him out and about at all, please let us know. We think he's gaming the system. I would like to know if you see him driving his car, shopping, whatever. Thanks.
