Judge upholds key evidence in Ayres trial

A defense motion to suppress key evidence in the molestation trial of San Mateo child psychiatrist William Ayres was denied Thursday by San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Norman Gatzert.

Weinberg didn't look so confident yesterday in court.

It's curtains for Ayres. The US Supreme court ruling has made it impossible for him to get the warrant thrown out.

The victims are in pain. Ayres needs to pay for the wreckage he has caused.

Ayres' landlord lives in San Jose, wonder why he doesn't get evicted from his rented condo. I wouldn't want to occupy that place as the next tenant.

Didn't see Ayres at the Farmer's Market today. He looks so white these days. I wonder if he shows his face anywhere anymore.

One wonders what kind of effort the County and the DA's office to offer help to the victims - particularly those who have arrest records. Cannot judges take it into consideration if someone is being charged with a crime was a victim of Ayres, and was sent to him through the County ?It would seem to me that the County owes these victims. They need help.

Yes I agree, if Ayres gets convicted the County could be facing a lawsuit of their own. Ayres clearly doesn't have the funds to pay anymore of his victims. I would imagine him to be flat broke after all these attorney's fees. Including the fact that his malpractice insurance most likely doesn't cover criminal acts and his former medical group has banished in disgrace by having his mug shot plastered all over America.

One wonders why,when about ten years ago, a mother of a victim called Ayres' partners to complain that he was undressing her son, they didn't boot him out then ? Instead, he convinced them was all part of his child psychiatry training back in Boston. Hogwash ! You won't find a single colleague of Ayres who trained with him back then to say they were taught to give genital and "proctology" exams on little boys. And weren't his partners concerned that Ayres was touching this kid without the presence of the parents ? His partners seem like a bunch of sleepwalking idiots who just didn't want to get involved. They should be held liable too.

I agree the partners were accessories to the crimes. So many doctors just look the other way when they see "one of their own" doing wrong. It is just the way doctors are. Doctors are terrible and most shrinks are even worse.

Solveig Ayres, hideous wife of William Hamilton Ayres has been in the same Masterworks Chorale for 26 seasons.

Sounds like a show that I definitely would not want to go see... way too molesty for my taste.

I am not offended by Jerry Fletcher's remark. Solveig Ayres enabled and protected her husband all these years We hear that she was badmouthing the victim who filed the lawsuit several years ago to a number of doctors who would listen at an annual meeting of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The good doctor was also badmouthing the victim to his colleagues as well. Very mean spirited and tacky behavior, to say the very least.

I have no doubt that Ronnie Sue Leith was an enabler as well. I wouldn't want to be in the presence of either one of these women, knowing what they let Ayres get away with and knowing that they continue to defend a truly evil person. Many lives have been ruined and suicides committed because of "Dr" Ayres.

Perhaps Masterworks Chorale should consider releasing members like Solveig Ayres who appear to openly support child molesters. Then there would be no question as to whether or not their organization condones this type of behavior.

Being "deeply offended" by my remark seems very, very silly, and more than a little trite. Perhaps "patrons of the arts" need a bit of a thicker skin.

I myself am "deeply offended" by so-called professionals diddling little boys, but hey... that's just me.

I myself am "horrified and disgusted" by people who call themselves "doctors" and then get their jollies by molesting sweet little vulnerable boys.

One wonders what all of the parents think, knowing they paid for someone to molest their sons.
In an essay in the Psychiatric News in 1997, Dr. Ayres wrote that child psychiatrists care about children, unlike "businessmen who are free to profit from the vulnerability of others."

That is a bizarre thing to say about businessmen,but one has to believe he was referring to himself. He is the consummate con man. One wonders how he was able to snow all of the judges, the probation officers at Hillcrest, other doctors, not just in San Mateo but all over the country.

How many victims of Dr. Ayres are in jail now because of what Ayres did to them ? Boys from broken homes needed an adult they could trust and talk to. Then Ayres takes advantage of their need and vulnerability. They had no one to turn to or talk about what happened to them. No wonder so many of them turned to a life of crime.
It's a crime that Dr. Ayres is not in jail right now, while so many of his victims are. What kind of reparations is the County doing for these boys, who were sent to Ayres through Hillcrest ?Shouldn't they be offered counseling or a lesser sentence ?
