Gas tax seems to have nowhere to go but up

The political vision of a summer gas tax holiday has died a quick death in Congress, losing to a view that federal excise taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel will have to go up if they go anywhere.

The "highway" trust fund needs to bne renamed and reallocated to the "Transportation" trust fund, and more emphasis needs to be given to mass transit.
The folly of building more and more roads when gas prices are continualluy rising is like building an off-ramp to nowhere.

They won't be happy til there is civil unrest in this country. They raised the gas prices and citizens are still driving like normal. So they are going to keep pushing up the costs until there is an armed revolt.

When is the last time anyone of those voting actually gased up their own vehicles? They all have government cars and drivers to take them places. So, they have no idea what it's like to reach into their pockets and PAY for their own gasoline. How can they make these decisions?

EVERYONE remember who voted for this the next time they come up for election.

This article, if you had actually read it, was about FEDERAL gas taxes, not state gas taxs. Governor O'Malley wasn't even MENTIONED in the article - in fact, STATE TAXES were not mentioned in the article. Why did you bring O'Malley into the discussion into the discussion?

If you can guarantee that my taxes will go to support the troops instead of some lazy s**t sucking off the system, then I will gladly pay them.

Unfortunately, entitlement spending far exceeds defense spending and entitlements are also growing faster.

Yes you are right but Owe'Malley just raised our Maryland gas taxes. His fellow liberals in the U.S. Congress are now following suit. President Obama and Pelosi/Reid will then raise large and small business, capital gains, dividends, social security, income and energy taxes. This is what liberals do. They raise taxes. Also, Obama is lying to us saying that most will pay less in taxes. Owe'Malley did the same lie and the Sun promoted and publicized the same lie. There are many similarities here.
