This is a 4th of July joke right? Like April Fools? Pretty funny actually. Like the failed attempt at turning an adult celebration, New's Year Eve, into a Family Event.

This is crazy!!! Again, people fussing about the noise - in a city!!!! And again, just a bunch of people trying to throw away heritage!! America is in a sad shape...removing In God We Trust from our money...and now trying to hush the sounds of our fireworks!! I hope people go elsewhere to watch the normal fireworks!!!! These people fussed about the harmless and beautiful drum circle - and thank God it didn't do any good....what else are you people going to take away due to a bunch of grumblers!!! I only wished that the machine that was installing those foundation supports for that new hotel (which I do not agree with) would have taken 6 months - so those people could really see what troublesome noise is vs. normal life!!!

This is sad, the children in this town are going to miss out on the whole experience we've all witnessed for years because some people can't tolerate a little noise one night out of the year. If you don't like the noise downtown then why do you live there?

Its last all of 15 minutes and there are only short sections of the really loud boom ones... Why should thousands of people lose out cause one mother cant deal with it. Guess its a good thing our founding fathers didnt decide the war was not worth the trouble cause its going to be to loud...

this sux and it's only gonna get worse. I just wished they'd have let us know ahead of time so I could have made other plans. The sounds of the exploding fireworks is part of the whole experience of the "bombs bursting in air"

Asheville folds just too easy to idiotic complaints yet does absolutely nothing to eliminate the real problems. About the only thing they did right was the fireworks and now they screwed that up.

We will be watching from our roof downtown and enjoying the whole thing ... we can provide the noise so just the bright lights will be fine!

It really doesn't surprise me that Asheville buckles to the whim of a few or even one person. Look at Gordon and his little groups almost single handed sabotaging of the Packplace project. Or the few whiners that held up the hotel across from the Civic Center. And lets not forget the little picket line that moved a sign on Merrimon ave.

Our city council has no spine and bows to activist no matter what inane idea they have.

Finally I would like to ask, do you go to SEE the fire works for the loud noises? Or is it the beautiful showers of sparks that you ooh and ahh over? If its the noises then I say fight this. One person shouldn't dictate an entire communities rights. If its the pretty lights, then it isn't worth wasting time with, so let it go.

You know in many cities there aren't loud booms, but instead they play music choriographed to the explosions. The music is loud and can be heard all around. Any complainer just had to wait out the 30 minute show. Just a thought for compromise.

I am sort of glad some folks are annoyed by loud booms, it means they will leave my property as soon as they hear the gunfire.

I know we enjoy the noise of it, otherwise I could just go up on the parkway and see the lights. I go to downtown to get up close and personal...what the he!! is wrong with this city?

The fireworks were great. The booms were perfect. My six year old stood through our moon roof and just giggled the entire fifteen minutes.

It was good, I missed some of the bangs but my one complaint was they played the stupid music during the fireworks!!! It was so eff'ing distracting.

I think I'll go to Lake Junaluska next year, I've heard theirs is great.

The Grovepart used to do this and it was so awesome.... we'd go sit on the golf course it was so peaceful. I really wish they would start theirs again.
