Hoppus Maximus from Thirsty Dog is great. I'm glad that they're brewing in Akron now.

Gimme the Siberian Nights, or that Winter/ Holiday Ale that Thirsty Dog had in the Pubs at Thanksgiving. -As good as anyone's. Go Akron.

WOW..what a totally chauvinistic and misogynistic comment. And I LOVE it!!!! "Panty Greasers"...oh I will be using that one alot. But you are right, they do serve a purpose, and much easier to obtain than roofies. |

1 Mayor Donny Boy walks into a crowded bar in downtown Akron. When the people see who it is, they all run out except this one old man. So Mayor Donny Boy walks up to him and says" Do you know who I am?" and the old man sips his beer and answers "yep". The Mayor Donny Boy says "Well, why aren't you afraid of me?" The old man looks over and says" I've been married to the devil's sister for 27 years, why the hell should I be scared of you." |

Watch out for "Blithering Idiot" by Weyerbacher Brewing Co, at 11% ABV that thing will hit you harder than a two-peckered billy goat is horny |

Weyerbacher makes some interesting stuff. I rue the end of their "Insanity" Ale, aged in oak bourbon barrels. I think it, too, was 11 ABV. A seasonal favorite is Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot Barleywine Style Ale, clocking in at about 10.5 ABV. Goooood stuff. |
There's nothing misogynistic or chauvinistic about such talk. Women talk this way about guys too. |

A young lass in the office here refers to red wine as "LPR." "Liquid panty remover." |

1 Centennial: Strong ale with a dark copper color, a heavy malt flavor and high alcohol content. Irvington Pale Ale: A classic version of British pale ale. This beer is pale-copper in color and generously hopped with a dry, crisp, full bodied malt flavor. Razzputin Kölsch: Our raspberry Kolsch is pale gold with light body and a slightly dry palate with a hint of raspberry. Medium hop bitterness and light hop aroma. Sunset Coast: An unfiltered West Coast lager. This beer has the best of both worlds. The aroma has a definite aromatic profile of a lager and the slight bitterness of an ale. Very well balanced and clean with complex fruit and malt flavors. Uber Brown: A light colored, sweet brown ale with hints of caramel and chocolate in flavor and light hops in aroma. Yorkshire Porter: True British style ale, this beer exhibits some coffee and chocolate flavors along with a very light hop profile. We use traditional British hops and malt with our house ale yeast to produce this lighter version of a stout. Huckleberry Lin: The Huckleberry Lin is our Kolsch with fresh pureed Huckleberries to give it a deep purple color and delicate berry sweetness. Pumpkin Haze: Strong ale with a copper color and a heavy malt flavor, seasoned with Matt's own pumpkin patch secrets. Saber-Tooth Squirrel Nut Brown: A crisp, clean nutbrown ale, biscuity in flavor, with a malty aroma. A great Autumn ale for those brisk October days. Broken Shovel Stout: A very dark, almost black, top ferrmented brew made with highly roasted chocolate and black malts. This stout is full bodied and lightly hopped. Black Widow Stout: A robust stout with undertones of chocolate and burnt flavors and a smooth clean finish. Our stout is lightly hopped to balance the malt profile. No flavored beers, huh? |

Ok, so you showed him. But why are you hating on these beers. You talked about wanting a plain drink, or something like "when a drink tasted bad". Is somebody stopping you from drinking straight scotch? Or some other bland alcohol? Or a crappy tasting Bud beer? |
|
You apparently know nothing about beer. A flavored malt beverage would be something like Mike's Hard Lemonade or Twisted Tea. Beer is not "flavored" in that sense. Of course there are also craft beers made with hints of fruit juice but they aren't considered "flavored" malt beverages. Most of your examples get their flavors from different varieties of malt and hops in the same way wines get their flavor from a variety of grapes. They are no different from the swill produced by Budweiser or Miller that you probably drink - made of malted grain, yeast, hops, water. The difference is in QUALITY OF INGREDIENTS. Bud and other off the shelf garbage use cheap ingredients that make an inferior quality of beer with very weak and bland flavor. Many microbrews spend more $$ on select hops and finely malted barley or wheat to achieve beers that have complex, interesting and pleasing flavors. Nobody in their right mind would say that Great Lakes Holy Moses, Dortmunder or a fine India Pale Ale is "flavored" beer. |

I'm waiting for him to ask how they put the chocolate in the beer :-) Tee hee. Buffoon. |
