DON'T Live or Move to San Luis Obispo...

First, the reason Canada Ranch hasn't gone through is because the town is not a city. Until Nipomo is a city, there will be no need for the big tax base.

Second, there's two opposing corporations-NICE(nipomo incorporation committee for education) and the organization you spoke of. And I would say NICE has as many supporters as "Save the Mesa" has.

Third, you're blind if you can't see what Nipomo has turned into. 5,000 population growth every 10 years, gang bangers at the high school, and more lower-income workers moving into to work on the farms. Do you really want to see this all get worse? it will if the city doesn't incorporate

Fourth, the Santa Maria Town Center is an enclosed regional mall with about 5 anchor tenets. Most enclosed malls these days are not at full occupancy because they are old and losing their touch. That's why I believe a regional open-air mall in Nipomo is needed. And so it doesn't compete with the Santa Maria, I believe Macy's and JcPenney's would be good anchors. Open-air malls are in, and very popular. Look at how good Paseo Nuevo in Santa Barbara is doing.

Well Mishe,
I guess I feel sorry for you parents as well then. It's really sad to think the 20's are the best years of one's life. That means the years after 29 must have really sucked for them, as well as what they think their remaining years will be... maybe its because they have you for a daughter lol.
Just because you and your folks have crappy lives (sorry about that) doesn't mean that the rest of us do. You actually sound quite jealous.
I am illiterate? LMFAO!! Here is a direct quote from you Mishe...
"And life gets better when you leave your 20s? Haha, really? I guess that's why people dread their 30th birthday, try ridiculously hard to preserve their youth and get plastic surgery in order to look like theyre in their 20s?"
Maybe you just don't know how to express yourself? Because anyone who is literate would read that to be you think that life after 20 sucks. You might want to make sure you are taking some English classes there at Cal Poly lol!
Must be hard to be you.=*(
Me and my folks have crappy lives? Heehee. If only you knew.
It sucks having a doctor for a mom and a pilot for a dad who make more than you'll ever make in your life.
And yeah does it suck to be me.=[ I'm 18 with my own place, in college getting an education, got a modeling career in the works and made so much money last year that i could afford to not work at all this semester and i still find time to party in between all that and still find time to go church in between in that.
Can I pleasse switch lives with you, Chill?=[
I wish I had nothing better to do than sit on a forum all day. I sure would college and modeling for that in a heartbeat. LOL
Oh and by the way, I love how you rate your own posts LMAO.
Anywayyys, bickering is such a waste of time.

San Luis Obispo has been the same since the 70's save for a few new additions downtown.
I miss the Network, it was when SLO town was a bit more fun.

Now Grover Beach on the other hand....

I'd take Mayberry over a big city any day. That's why I moved out here in the first place. I was in Lakewood. I lived right between two malls (Lakewood and Cerritos).

Now I live on 2 1/2 acres, with my kid, 3 horses, 4 dogs, pig... etc, etc. All of my neighbors are awesome, and they all have horses too. One of my neighbors actually has a cart for her horses. It's wonderful to watch them go by my house every day.

I have never once missed not having a mall near me in the 10+ years I've lived out here. I would miss what I have know though.

To all of you posting comments about SLO, It seems to me you have forgotten what life is really about. Its about being happy where you live. Don"t let the "man" bring you down. I think every one is correct in there feelings, but don't fill the air with pollution of negativity. This place is paradise to the people who are willing to see it.

Local businesses don't bring in the money anymore, sorry.
I have lived in Templeton, Ca almost all my life. And I intend to stay here and bring a mall to SLO and make sure SLO gets 50,000 residents by 2020.
That is my goal, ans the goal of some others who wish to see more families and less of the tree huggers and hippies like you, the eye.

Why would anyone one want to have poor or lower income people in thier community anyways? The more expensive the area, the greater weeding out of losers and crime.

Why are folks jealous of people being successful and making money to buy nicer things in life, and to live in a healthy, cleaner area.

Instead of envying those who succeed, become a success yourself!

I have been considering moving to SLO and soon after, bringing my extended family to live there as well. All the comments about how bad it is and that we shouldnt move there have really got me thinking. It can only mean one thing; that you all must have something great and you are trying to scare away others so you can keep it to yourself! We'll be there in a couple months! Yee HAW!

if you don't like it here, move away. It is that simple. everyone has their differences, but if you come here for school, move schools. find a town that fits your needs and go there, don't come to our hometown where we are comfortable and happy and try and change it.

Wow, there are some interesting takes here.
I moved here with my girlfriend from Illinois about 4 months ago. We did not know anyone or anything before we came out. She had a job as a contract worker and I was unemployed when we moved.
Since then I have found a job and we make a comfortable, but not substantial, living. We love it here. There are things that can be expensive, especially when compared to the midwest, but you can definitely make it work if you want.
SLO has been amazing and we don't plan on moving anytime soon. I think anywhere you move is going to be tough and take some adjustment. All in all, anyone can make it work if you really want to be someplace.

Hi everyone, I'm from the UK but looking to move to the US, im finding it very difficult to get information on how to do this apart from I need a green card and their not the easiest things to come by. I have family in SLO, but would like to know what job opportunities there are and if its realistic to think i could get sponsored by a company to come over. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
