I KNEW CHARTER WOULD DO IT!

I SUSPECTED CHARTER'S COMPUTERIZED, AUTOMATED "We don't have the manpower to look after these things personally" SYSTEM WOULD REPLACE KTLA'S COVERAGE OF MICHAEL JACKSON'S MEMORIAL AT THE STAPLES CENTER AS IT WAS STARTING, WITH "JEWELRY TV" - AND THEY DID IT!

Los Angeles - the World, turned out to remember the man, but what was more important to Charter?'Jewelry TV' I hope every phone at Charter's Customer Service Desk started ringing off the hook - IDIOTS! YOU ARE IDIOTS, CHARTER!!

Charter service stinks. You can watch TV on Facebook for free. Its not too bad either. You got to connect your TV to your computer with an X-Box or something

Charter Communications of San Luis Obispo is a pure ripoff. They even don't have the phone support running in the US but in the Philippines and in India on their only calling center. Talk about cheating US wages and raising cable rates.

You think Paul Allan is reading these emails? Not at all but think about their lousy expensive telephone service ($29.95 a month) was the worse company investment as free telephone service is already available which was a stupid investment.

In the next 5 to 8 years, WiMax technology will be completely free internet service, which will be free telephone and will be free cable service as free tv growing each day. Paul Allan knows Charter is limited but will have to have new ideas to surpress the newest technology coming

There is by far no monopoly for internet service on the central coast. Charter is not ripping you off, they are simply asking you for more than you want to pay. Tough. Get over it.
No Eric....They are ripping people off. Straight up and down, no if, ands, or buts. I have personally experienced this. They got me to sign up with an introductory rate of $55 for cable internet with free installation. Then they charged me $85 for installation. They took my credit card for a one time charge of $55 and charged me $140 in the 1st month. I called and tried to clear up the installation fees. After 3 days of arguing with unethical, socially retarded customer service reps from eastern Europe, I got them to send me a refund check for the difference sans the 'setup fees'. The next month, they charged me $74 dollars automatically and with out my authorization (Mind you, I have not yet received a statement). This month, my internet is not working...I call customer service over a three day period and it still does not work properly...When transferred to a "tech", she rudely informs me that I have a past due balance of $240 and that I will have to be more responsible about my bill. WTF!?! I inform her that my bills were paid not only on time but without my authorization. She informs me that there is nothing she can do and hangs up after calling me crazy. I call back and ask for billing. The billing rep (after a long winded disclaimer about the system and his lack of control over it) confirms my past due amount and cannot explain where it is from. I ask for a supervisor and he repeats his disclaimer schpeel, puts me on hold for 20 minutes and hangs up on me. I have still not resolved this issue. These people are thieves and they employ thieves in their billing dept. I hope I have done my part to educate you and help prevent you from posting ignorant blurbs, Eric.

Hint: You can watch Internet TV on your regular TV instead of high priced Cable TV. Check out cheap phone services like Vonnage or Magic Jack. Simply choose the internet services of your choice.(Whether cable, dsl or mobile internet service through your cell phone provider). Don't worry about Charter. The market will give them whats long overdue.....

I'm not a Charter employee, but I've been in the cable industry for over 20 years.

The way franchises work is this: A cable company wants to build in a new area. This is expensive, so they make an agreement with the local municipality to be the only cable provider in the area. Once the expensive part is built, it has to be REBUILT to add additional services. Why not build them that way from the start? Because the technology wasn't there to include 100+ channels, digital, and high-speed data when the system was originally built. People demand more services and more reliability, then complain when prices go up after the system is rebuilt. Most cable systems have been rebuilt 10 times or more in the past 20 years.

Then there's the channel fees. HBO wants to raise the rates to cable providers, so like any business, cable providers want to pass those increases on to consumers. Well, they have to go to the local municipality to ask for the increase because that's part of their franchise agreement. Often they have to go to several municipalities because franchise agreements are local, not federal, like they are in Canada. The cable company has to beg and play the media game several times to get the increase.

But wait! You don't have HBO. Why are your rates going up too? Because HBO charges the cable provider based on the number of cable subscribers, NOT the number of HBO subscribers. If the cable company wants to recoup those fees, they'd better add more HBO subscribers. The best way to do that is to offer new subs a 3-month deal and hope the new HBO subs stay past the initial 3-month offer, not offer that lower price to existing HBO subs.

Are cable companies saints? No. But neither are they demons trying to ruin your life.

Not a cable TV employee but in the cable industry for 20 years in a state (WI) where Charter does big business .. how and "why" did you stumble upon this site.

Where you bouncing around the internet one day and decide (just for kicks) type in "I HATE Charter Communications" but of course you really don't hate Charter.

What you are is another attempt for damage control on this thread .. which is cool and tried before. Eric and Jim tried it also.

The fact is Charter is REALLY not liked by MANY MANY people whether ex-customers or ex-employees or contractors.

Folks, try Internet TV. Its still in its infancy but already offers options at prices that just cannot be beat. Join the Internet TV revolution today.

Oh, by the way. With Internet TV (you do not get HBO as such) what you get is access to the same shows and movies as all of the movie channels placed together times 5. No kidding, about 150,000 videos on demand ... Sopranos, Weeds, American Idol and recently released movies like Star Trek and the new Terminator, Fast & Furious and more.

Lastly,

1. You can watch Internet TV on most computers.
2. Picture converts easily to most new TVs.
3. Sports, News, Music, Internet Radio, Magazines.
4. Does not require a technician.
5. 3 minute download is all that's required.
6. Internet TV is designed specially for each user

All you need it internet service. It could be Charter's internet (a pretty good service actually for internet) or it could be any other internet service provider.

So, when Charter starts acting up and pretending to be the only show in town again. Remind the CSR that you can pull both their internet and TV service and go with whomever.

click here to check for ALL internet service providers anywhere in U.S.A. or Canada. Choose the service that works best for you. Good luck!!

Oh & Charter guys, you need to submit more damage control posts please.

Charter Communications of San Luis Obispo is a franchise ripoff

Every year Charter Communcations of San Luis Obispo raises their rate regardless if the ecomony is in recession, they raise the price anyway. Paul Allan a billion capitalist just like in Michael Moore million, Paul Allan is a greedy capitalist to pay himself millions and pay little back to the employees who work for him and so, they outsource their own labor in India, Canada, Mexico and Phillipins making pennies by the hour and Americans are paying an average of $125.00 a month for basic cable, internet and crappy internet phone service, all Charter, all terrible service, all a rippoff!

Charter is going out of business.... horaaaaaayyy. They are one of those businesses that care more about the customers they don't have than the ones they do. They advertise incessantly on their own channels to get people to buy whatever terrible service they don't already have. They send people to flyer your door (even though you already have their service) sometimes twice a day. And if you have a problem, you might as well give up on trying to get it fix because it will SURELY take multiple phone calls probably lasting 45+ minutes and numerous visits. I pay for a 10 meg connection that drops sometimes 4 times an hour. I tried to fix it but gave up, they should have paid me because it was a full time job trying to get their worthless service fixed. I really hate Charter and all company's like it. Its the epitome of a company run by greed.

Horrible service and the pricing keeps going up and up for no reason. The internet is slow, not fast as they say. The cable box shuts down at night everynight after 3AM for a few hours and they do not credit anything for that. I am dropping my service with Charter Communications simply because they suck and are a real RIP OFF! If you need cable and internet and phone service, just buy a long range wifi adapter and get your free internet connection where you can get free tv and free better phone service than spending your hard earn money of $100.00 plus a month to Charter. Save your money and drop them, they are not worth a penny.‎

I can't agree more with how Charter has ripped people off! My mom was having trouble with her HD Cable and they sent a tech out to my Mom's & drilled a hole in her slate siding after she told them NOT to and ran the cable all the way around the house so you can see it much less the holes! What a disaster. Needless to say, I would not recommend them to anyone.

what sux is when you are paying for the 20mbit package but only receiving .5mbps down and even slower up, so i call them and they try to make it sound like it's on my end, and i'm like listen asshole, first learn to speak english, and second listen to what i'm saying, i do get 20, to 30mbps at 6am in the morning, but with in a hour or two, or definately by noon, the bandwidth is cut in half, and by 5pm i'm down to 1mbps, or less, i'm so pissed i could start my chainsaw and walk the neighborhood killing any telephone pole even resembling coax cable running amongst the lines.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Sagittarius

Once again, the domestic atmosphere isn't exactly peaceful. Someone is still all worked up, and you may have come out in sympathy by now. Try to discuss things with as much objectivity as you can muster, otherwise, with Mars now retro, the conversation will soon disintegrate into a bad-tempered spat or a slanging match in which you try to catch one another out. It's important to clear the air.
